HI MY NAME IS MUNTAZ I AM ALMOST FINISH WITH MY ENGINE SWAP......
THIS IS WHAT I HAD BEFORE 90 CELICA GT 5SFE CAMRY ENGING WITH 5SFE GEARBOX NOW I HAVE A 2 GEN 3SGTE FROM A 92 CELICA JDM MANY PEOPLE ASK A LOT OF QUESTIONS ABOUT SWAPS AND HOW MUCH THEY COST WELL LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH IT COST ME I BOUGHT THE ENGINE FOR 1450 US DOLLARS I BOUGHT THE CLUTCH KIT FOR 158.00USDOLLAR AND I BOUGHT A ENGINE HOIST FROM PEP BOYS FOR A 100US DOLLARS. THE REST OF ITEMS LIKE NEW AXLE SEAL OIL. FILTER. GEARBOX OIL. POWERSTEERING FLUID ETC CAME UP TO 200.US DOLLARS. I WILL BE ADDING PHOTOS SOON.... THE FIRST THING I DID WAS REMOVE MY ENGINE FROM MY CAR AT FIRST I THOUGTH I COULDN'T DO IT..... I REMOVED THE WHEELS DISCONNECTED THE SUSPENSION BOLTS THAT HOLDS THE ROTORS AND TIE ROD END THEN REMOVE THE AXLE FROM THE HUB THEN USED A HAMMER AND PRIED ON THE OTHER END THAT'S ON THE GEARBOX ONCE THE BOTH AXLE ARE REMOVED I REMOVED THE CROSSMEMBER SO NOW THE ENGINE IS ONLY HOLDING UP ON THE THE 2 SIDE MOUNTS. I STARTED BY REMOVING THE AIRFLOW BOX AND FUSE BOX AND BATTERY THEN I REMOVED THE MOST SENSORS THAT WAS ATTACHED TO THE BODY OF THE CAR WHATEVER SENSOR IS ON THE ENGINE I DIDNT CARE BECAUSE IM REMOVING THE ENGINE . GEAR BOX AND HARNESS AS ONE ...... NOW YOU HAVE TO OPEN THE SCREW THATS ON THE RADIATOR TO LET THE ANTIFREEZE LEAK OUT THEN REMOVE THE RADIATOR AND ANY WIRES THAT HOLD IT UP. NEXT STEP IS TO REMOVE THE 2 PINS THAT ON THE GEARBOX THAT CONTROL THE SHIFT CABLE AND REMOVE IT AND THE CLUTCH LINE HAS TO BE REMOVED ALSO ANY MISSALAINOUS PARTS THAT I DIDNT REMEMBER TO TALK ABOUT........ YOU NEED TO REMOVE THE COMPUTER FROM INSIDE THE CAR AND FREE THE JACKS SO THAT YOU CAN PULL THE HARNESS OUT FROM THE ENGINE BAY. NOW BRING THE ENGINE HOIST UP AND HOOK UP THE ENGINE AND TAKE A LITTLE TENSION THEN REMOVE THE OTHER 2 ENGINE MOUNTS BE CAREFULL NOW THE ENGINE IS ONLY HOLDING ON THE ENGINE MOUNT START TO MOVE THE JACK UP A LITTE SO THAT YOU CAN SEE THE FIRE WALL AND WHATEVER HOSES IS CONNECTED REMOVE EVERY THING NOW LOWER THE ENGINE TO THE GROUND ADJUST THE CHAIN FOR THE ENGINE HOIST SO THAT THE ENGINE WOULD BE TILTED WITH GEAR BOX DOWN AND THE TIMING BELT SIDE UP NOW JACK IT UP MAKING SURE THAT ITS CLEAR ALL THE WAY AND COMPLETELY REMOVE THE ENGINE FINALLY THE ENGINE IS OUT...... YOUR NEW ENGINE HAS A LITTLE WORK BEFORE YOU PUT THE NEW ONE BACK IN YOU HAVE TO DISCONNECT THE GEARBOX FROM THE OLD ENGINE AND REASSEMBLE TO THE 3SGTE ENGINE IF YOUR ENGINE HAS THE CLUTCH ON THERE YOU HAVE TO REMOVE IT NOW YOU HAVE TO USE THE 3SGTE PRESSURE PLATE AND THE 5SFE DISC THE REASON WHY IS BECAUSE THE 3SGTE DISK IS TO BIG FOR THE SPLINE.... IF YOU ARE GOING TO PUT A PERFORMANCE CLUTCH IN THERE YOU WOULD HAVE TO BUY A 2 KITS A 3SGTE KIT AND A 5SFE KIT ONCE FINISHED ASSEMBLE THE GEARBOX WITH THE ENGINE . THE WIRING HARNESS IS THE BIGGEST PROBLEM THE JDM HARNESS IS GOING TO BE TO SHORT SO YOU WOULD NEED TO LENGTHING IT YOU DONT NEED A ELECTRICIAN TO DO THIS .YOU ARE GOING TO ADD AT LEAST 32 INCHES OF WIRE FROM WHERE THE HARNESS GOES IN. THE BEST WAY IS TO CUT ONE ADD 32 INCHES SOLDER THE WIRES AND TAPE UP IT WOULD TAKE YOU AT LEAST 4 HOURS TO DO THIS AND ITS BORING....... NOW YOU ARE READY TO INSTALL THE ENGINE BACK THERE YOU WOULD START BY FOLLOWING THE STEPS THAT YOU DID TO TAKE THE ENGINE OUT AND REVERSING IT TAKING PICTURES OF EVERY THING IS IMPORTANT IT HELPS YOU REMEMBER A LOT OF STUFF THAT YOU MIGHT FORGET..... ONCE THE ENGINE IS IN THERE YOU CONNECT EVERYTHING AND PUT IN THE 3SGTE COMPUTER CONNECT THE HARNESS UP AND THE REST IS MECHANICAL VACUUM AND ELECTRICAL CHANGE YOUR OIL AND FLUIDS YOUR OLD EXHAUST WILL NEED TO BE CUT AND ADD A PIECE.... I WOULD ADD SOME PICS SOON/ AND AS FOR THE PEOPLE THAT SAY THE GEARBOX CANT HANDLE THE POWER YOU HAVE TO HAVE ONE LIKE MINE AND DO THE STUFF THAT I DO BEFORE YOU TALK THE 5SFE GEARBOX IS A BEAST DONT UNDER ESTIMATE IT.................... -------------------- BANNED.

do you realize this is a 6th gen website?
this means 94-99 celicas. not 90-93. celicatech is the place for this. your also missing the key to doing this swap right in a 6th gen, the wiring since its not plug and play like a 5th gen, you also dont need 2 clutch kits, any clutch company will make you a custom clutch setup with a 3s disk with 5s spline count. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)
