Ok guys..gonna be rollin' with all you big dogs here pretty soon as soon as I find the right engine. I'm gonna take a couple months to look around and see where I can get the best deal. But what I wanted to know was a few things:
1. I already asked this in a different topic but...Where is the best place to deal with? I know toyosport is definately not the way to go. But which place knows their stuff and will try and help YOU and not themselves? 2. I know the clip is the way to go, and I'm definately going with the st185 for ease of installation. But what is the 2nd Gen. 3sgte? I saw on a diferent forum that it said it had the water to air intercooler on the top like the st205. But besides that what are the other visual differences? I just don't want to come across and engine that they think is just a plain 3s and it being a wrc for the same price and me not buying it cause I dont know that its a WRC. And besides visual differences what other modifications does it have that seperate it from the regular 2nd gen? 3. And last and more importantly. Lets say for the sake of pure knowledge I just order an engine and not the clip. What parts do I NEED to make sure it comes with. I'm talking the parts that are going to be almost impossible to find in America. I know I don't need the tranny and stuff like that that my gt will accomadate. But im talking a list of all those little parts that are going to make my world a whole lot easier when the swap process comes along. If anyone could provide me with this info I would be a very happy kid. Thanks alot. And i'm sorry if any of you get annoyed if you think I'm reposting any questions. But rest assured i've been a part of this web site for about 10 months and I read the forums every day. It would just be nice to get all this info in one topic instead of trying to sift through all the topics and trying to piece everything together. And who knows...mabye if you guys provide enough info i't will help alot of other people out on the way..so they don't have to go through the hours of hell that I did trying to find every little piece of useful info in the 8 million topics on the wonderful forum. Thanks again guys. Hope you arn't mad about my reposted q's. This post has been edited by Doge: Oct 16, 2003 - 8:02 PM |

the 2nd Gen 3sgte is the ST185 and its air to air. THe St205 (3rd Gen) is water to air, and the ST165 is also water to air. Visual differences are minimal. And if u get a WRC lucky you its hard to come by. People usually dont find that out until they take it apart. And i think u'd want them to come across an engine that is WRC and they think its a "plain" 3s.
No offense but u seem like u have alot more HW to do on the engine before going to buy one. Parts availability depends on what Generation engine you get. THe ST185 is available in the US, the ST205 is not. Hence, u can get all the parts you need to make it run in the US. If you get ntohing but the engine ur going to need an AFM, ECU, ignitor pack, solenoid, fuel pump resistor blah blah blah. Stronger clutch, bigger exhaust from the DP back. Use Jarco, or Venus Auto for the clip. All 185 parts are available in the US (just like super said) even though your clip would most likely be from japan.

Oh wups!!...I just read my post and I made myself sound alot more stupid than I am. I ment to ask what the 2nd Gen. 3s-gte WRC was...not just the 2ng gen 3sgte...haha...trust me I know all about that stuff..I just wanted the visual differences of the wrc. So there's no real way to determine if its a wrc by looking at it? What internals are different?

Definitely try to go with Jarco. They have consistently average to good pricing, but their reliability and honesty is amazing. I got my parents' KL-ZE from there and it was great. Everything that they said they'd send was sent. Trust them.

2rd gen 3SGTE RC has an air to water intercooler, unlike the stock that has air/air. Read somewhere that it is an extra 10 HP due to the better cooling.

Ya don't need a whole front clip. Just get the 3sgte engine and a 3sge tranny, stage 2 clutch will help. Get the wiring harness, ECU, and ignitors too with the engine. st185 buy a front mount intercooler or get a hood with a scoop for the Air to Air cooler.

Thats fine and dandy, I'm sure there are more, but keep being a flamer. The whole clip is not needed.
