This was my first time at a 1/4 mile track and I'm definitely goin back. I wasn't prepared at all so I've got room for improvement. 3/4 tank of gas, bald tires, over-inflated tires.

Heres my two best runs:

2nd run
17.352 @ 80.04
R/T .480
60' 2.652

3rd run
17.399 @ 80.02
R/T .084
60' 2.748

The biggest thing was definitely launching, i've practiced launching by listening to the engine and tire chirp, but I couldn't hear **** at the track so I had to just wing it. Gotta practice launching with music blasting or something to get a better feel.

I plan on going again this summer if anyones interested in a mini-meet or sumthin. wink.gif

my best was about a 17.5 for my first time. When the last yellow light lit i launched but then let off because i thought i red lighted, that pretty much screwed that run up.

I had the same problem getting a good launch.

Well I normally take off without holding the rpms up and I get really clean launches, but I need to be able to listen to my tires to adjust while launching that way. Last night I just launched from about 1.2-1.5k, I know from experience any higher than that and my tires spin for days laugh.gif .

The car in front of me did like 8.5k launch, an s2000 holding at rev limiter. So ridiculous

Wow a 17+... a reminder how slow these cars really are, everytime I accelerate the only thing rolling through my mind is "motor swap" "turbo"... smile.gif

our motors stop making power at around 5500 dont they? is it best to shift at the top of the power band like at 56 or 5700rpm or carry threw till redline?

if crossing the line just about @ redline... it may or may not be beneficial to have shifted earlier. The extra power available may be negated by the time it takes to shift, but in the crap for top end 5sfe I'd say it would probably be worth shifting.

16's are really just a decent launch away.

To the OP, what mods do you have done, and do you know the approx weight of your car?
