ok so here is the deal... my pass side woffer fried on me a few days ago and i went to the local fleamarket to get new speakers for the door right, so when i got there i saw a friend of mine who has a stand for cars and i asked him if he had 8' woffers for my car, he asked me for what?, i said for my door and he could not belive me. He asked me what car i had and i told him a 94 celica and he even looked in a book and he told me nope its 6.5 for the door. so we argued for a few min sooooo i took pics to prove that my speakers a 8' in the doors stock no lie i didnt add anything to the door or did anything to the door to fit them i just put them on thats it.
SOO IM HOPING THAT EVERYONE WHO READS THIS TO POST THE SIZE OF YOUR SPEAKERS... PLZZZ thanx here are some pics: the speaker next to the what you might call it now in it and in the door panel p.s. f it in the wrong forum plz just move. -------------------- 94 st

Plenty of people have done that on this site. If I remember correctly, the speaker bracket that you have pictured in the first pic is actually for an 8 inch sub. Looks to me like you did it the right way.

That bracket holds the 6.5" speaker. The cars without that bracket have 8" speakers. My 'vert had the 8 inchers, and I think my hatch has 6.5 inch.

My hatch actually had the spot for 8's. At least that's what I had in the doors.

everyone got the 8 inch door speakers origionally, most people make an adaptor/spacer plate for a 6.5 inch speaker to sit there.

That's totally untrue; my factory speakers were 6.5" with the plastic mounting thingie from the factory. The hole in the panel is 8" though but I'd need to make a different adaptor to fit 8" speakers. -------------------- |

Factory speakers are 6.5's with a metal bezel around them so they can fit. Aftermarket speakers need an aftermarket bracket.
