I did a couple of photochops but can't access them from work, will post later. Obviously doing brakes on my car soon, and have narrowed it down to two colors for the calipers/brackets: Yellow and Red. The red to me is pretty played out, but looks good. The yellow would REALLY attract attention to the GT4 calipers up front (and hopefully rear down the road) and frankly in the chop didn't look too bad.
So what say ye, discerning eye of the 6GC.net world? Yellow or Red? Photo's tonight, I swear. PS. I know this is about brake calipes, but felt it was better suited for External Styling because it isn't based around mechanics at all. Mods please move it I fubar'd the right forum. -------------------- |

Doesnt the 205 calipers have the "celica" written on it? If so id say match the new color of the car, with silver lettering.
I agree that red is over-used, but more commonly i see the like fire engine red, if you do yours with the new color of your car, it would make it look more luxurious, imo. This post has been edited by samir0189: Jun 23, 2009 - 10:59 AM -------------------- ◊◊◊ My F/S Thread! ◊◊◊

The problem with it is that my powdercoater won't be able to color match the car. The paint has too much of a dynamic fluctuating color to try to match in a powdercoat.
Believe it or not, the yellow didn't look half bad when I photoshopped it. I couldn't make it as bright as I wanted, but it didn't look terrible at all. I may be able to post the pics this afternoon as I have to get out of work to go to the Dr. w/my wife, and I am snagging the rest of the day after that. I kind of like the yellow for the fact that it would really bring attention to the fact that "Hey, there's something going on with the brakes." At least I didn't put blue as an option. My wife suggested it, I did a photoshop rendition, and she promptly said "Delete that ****e." -------------------- |

definitely yellow. I think if you went with red, there's no way you could match the body color and it would just look off.
Second option would be black with a dark red lettering. -------------------- '99 Celica GT - Sold

MY BRAKES ARE YELLOW!!" lol -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

black.....keep it simple stupid yellow will look hideously gaudy and poke someone in the eye, it only works if your car is actually yellow.

I don't want to go black because it would be nearly invisible behind the wheels...........If I matched the red to the wheel lip and did the "Celica" lettering in black though........that might work. -------------------- |

Yellow on calipers I find gets really dirty too, and it really shows when they are dirty. I wouldn't do yellow

I like Manny's suggestion of just doing the lettering in red. IMO, they wouldn't have to even color match the car to still look good.
But, yeah yellow would probably seem a little out of place you your car. -------------------- |

Do what I did, paint them matt black and I then filed over the lettering so they came up silver but with nice crisp edging

Ok, here's the chops I did last night. Just a simple color replacement so they're not perfect.

the question is: do you want a color that stands out? or one that is more discreet and subtle?
my preference is gunmetal silver as it goes good with some shiny rotors (pic). but don't go chrome.. they're too much of a bling factor. -------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
