biggrin.gif I have a 95 Celica ST coupe with a slow 7AFE engine in it. I did a swap on a 93 Corolla LE this summer so I have an extra 7AFE in my garage. Has anyone built one of these with new pistons, cams, gears, rods, etc?? What type of power increase did you get, or will I get?? Let me know, I'm looking to put about $1500 into the rebuild to get it ready for a turbo setup eventually. Any suggestions?? And no I don't want a 4age head on my 7afe block.

you will need more than $1500 to do all that work.

stock a 7afte setup will hold 10psi with no reliability problems and not too much of a shorter life.

expect to spend $600-$700 for custom rods

then $500 for pistons

get a custom regrind on the cams, port and polish, custom valves.

i would guess you should be ready to spend about $2500 on a performance rebuild.

make it a turbo motor, and you should make a lot of power. a 7afe with a t3/t04 turbo with stock internals, fmic, and stock injectors made 160whp.

i would say you could run upwards of 17psi daily if you replace the internals.

If I wanted 160 I'd go buy something with an H on the valve cover. I'm having the engine machined for free and can get great deals on whatever else I need. Without a turbo, what can i do to rebuild the motor to get it closer to 200 HP mark naturally.

Everything u can do....I mean:

BLOCK

Custom titanium rods (lightest)
Crank knife-edged and balanced
Custom forged pistons with at least 12:1 CR
If u have $$$$ custom rods,crank,pistons to become a 2.0 liter

HEAD

Complete P&P
Custom oversized valves
titanium springs and retaiers
Regrounded cams (or custom)
A good Metal Head Gasket

IGNITION

Digital system (like MSD)
Powerful Coil (MSD)
8.5mm wires
Iridium colder sparks

INJECTION

Upgraded injectors
Upgraded fuel pump
Adjustable FPR

INTAKE

Good CAI
bored TB or better 4Throttle from 4AGE or bigger wink.gif

EXHAUST

Header (4-2-1 for low-middle power(Arospeed,OBX) or 4-1 for top end power(custom))
Full Cat-back exhaust

ELECTRONIC

Standalone ECU or Piggyback like SAFC or Emanage

POWER TO THE WHEELS

ASP underdrive pulley
OBX accessory pulleys
OBX cam gear
Lightweight Flywheel
Stage 2 or 3 clutch
LSD

With this setup u can reach high HP output for a N/A engine like our wink.gif wink.gif wink.gif

oh

do what Edo listed.

he pretty much covered everything you could do to the engine and still keep is NA

with all the stuff he listed im pretty sure it will give some good, reliable power. i personally went for a turbo setup with stock internals. once i get a FMIC and a fuel pump/injectors i will be good to probably 200whp. that would be just about all i would want with a fwd car, lol.

Cool idea's for the engine and naturally aspirited setup. The intake and air induction and ignition ideas are simple. I just want internal ideas and I'll worry about that junk later. If I can do internals to get me over 160 I'll be happy.

Ha, ya'll see a 200 whp automatic tranny STOCK eveything Celica soon...I already found a bad-ass tuner back home...my tuning is going to be so precise...that I'll burn the tranny, hahaha, but I'll swap a manual one when that one dies tongue.gif

rolleyes.gif ill be waiting to see how your project turns out. 200hp n/a is quite a jump. aside from the corolla racing motor i dont know anyone putting large amounts of power a 7a. i will be scanning my dyno sheet today to prove my numbers. with H they have high HP numbers but no torque. i am very proud to say im putting down 170.4 torque.

wink.gif Agreed, my lug nuts require more torque than a Honda engine can produce. Although my friend has a supercharged 2000 integra gsr that's pushing way over 250 HP and well needless to say..it's the only Honda I have respect for. It hurts when he hits the gas lol. Without the jackson supercharger.. it's nothing.

I think I'm just going to settle for the fact that the Celica is a nice looking car... and well it costs way too much money to do anything with it. I'm just gonna get the MKII MR2 like I should have in the first place. =) biggrin.gif
