if you want to angle the exhaust then id get something like a Universal HKS HiPower can... but if you want to fly under the radar and still get good sound, get the Vibrant Flat black muffler... I love mine! biggrin.gif

Magnaflow. i have 2.25 piping with a highflow magnaflow cat and sounds a little raspy in 1st in 2nd gear after you pass 4,000 rpms. But other wise sounds like a really sweet exhaust!!!

LOOK AT the Official Exhaust Thread and people have left all types of comments on their

slap a magnaflow and a resonator on there and you'll love your sound. No more tin can at high RPM's. Seal the deal with an ebay header to give you a nice rumble.

yeah i think im going to leave the resonator on there because i dont want it to sound like a "tin can" like he put it. i was looking at the magnaflow 14832, its not the canister style like i was originally looking at, but after looking at different people's exhaust on here, i decided this style looks better on the celicas, so as soon as i get these sportline springs on and get the front and rear of the car aligned im going to go get one and get the exhaust made...so thanks for all the help

hmm well i do have ebay headers you can see pics on my profile. Also it only sounds like tin can in 1st and 2nd gear after 4k rpm's, if i have my foot all the way to the floor.

I really like the way it sounded when i first got my cat back magnaflow exhaust. Thats when i still had my oem headers with the cat converter in the headers.

If i get magnaflow resonator (which is 14" long and will cost $110 for install and everything), im afraid it wont sounds as good as it does now. kindasad.gif

Actually, what you're looking at from MagnaFlow isn't a resonator, it's a round straight-through muffler. The exterior shape is similar to that of a resonator, which is why people tend to make the mistake.

A resonator is an echo chamber, designed to bounce sound waves into each other. The collision cancels the sound waves out, translating the energy from sound to heat (not that you'd be able to measure the heat generated). A straight-through muffler, on the other hand, is a perforated pipe wrapped in insulation (in MagnaFlow's case, it's ceramic matting backed by stainless steel wool). Vibrations are absorbed, rather than cancelled out.

A resonator is good for smoothing the tone of the exhaust, and somewhat reducing the volume. A straight-through muffler is good at reducing the volume, and somewhat smoothing the tone.

runnig 2.25" piping high rpm you will almost alawys get a rasp high pitch unless you go with a high end apex'i N1 or hks SP2 muffler. remember the muffler only carries the sound, if you want to clear up alot of that disruption for a CLEANER sound, a resonator AFTER the cat is a must to tone it down and keep it deep.

If you stick to 2.25 (more bottom end) i suggest Magnaflow #14822 muffler and Res #14415 (2.5" core) http://www.planetmagnaflow.com best prices i can find out there! I did my system for 325$ installed at a local shop, thats muffler/res/piping/clamps/labour.

another option would be go with 2.5" piping which will keep the sound deeper and more power in the upper RPM's
