Question:
Which type of clutch sensor do I need? Currently i dont have any, and i see two empty slots in clutch pedal, upper and lower one. In first picture this is lower one. I suppose this one is for startup, when You need to press clutch pedal to the floor. So im pretty sure i need upper one which should act like when i touch clutch pedal with my foot it will deactivate cruise control. And i dont need to whole pedal to deactivate, right? Yes. You are correct. The upper stopper in your last picture gets replaced with the cruise control clutch switch. Here is a link to where to find one incase you can't in a junk yard. If you need help installing it correctly pm me. It's just like installing the brake light switch so if you've already done that your set.
http://www.villagetoyotaparts.com/showAsse...product=2401718 The part your looking for on that site shows part number 88280C. Hope this helps. I'm still tring to upload that st diagram. Sry for the delay. This post has been edited by Ryouxrs: Oct 27, 2013 - 12:31 PM -------------------- Lift Addict!! ^_^

If a donnor car wit CC has ABS with broken sensor, and shows ABS light on dash, that could cause CC to not to work? Other way, does CC use any readings from ABS ecu/sensors ? I found this topic about CC failur, but that's mazda...

No the abs doesn't affect the cruise control in our cars. It uses the speed signal from the ECM and the gauge cluster nothing else is external accept for power, ground and clutch switch besides the steering switches, under hood actuator cluster light, diagnostic and e-brake. I think that's it. But don't worry too much especially since "fords" don't have much relevance to our cars. Lol

Could i replace clutch switch with old 2pin brake pedal one? Since I get new 4pin brake pedal switch, old one is no longer used... But I'm not sure how clutch switch acts when pedal is relased. Is it open or close circuit then?

I'm not sure how it acts compared to the brake switch. I'm not running one at the moment because I havnt been able to buy one. But I think the brake switch is a different size. It's a tight space up there to fit the fat brake switch housing. And the threads on the mount may be different as well. Your best bet is I just get the correct part.

QUOTE I'm not running one at the moment because I havnt been able to buy one. CC will just work without clutch switch? Or do I have to somehow bypass this circuit? This post has been edited by Makabra: Nov 4, 2013 - 7:20 AM |

It will but I don't recommend it because if you hit the clutch while it's holding a set speed the engine will sit and bounce off the rev limiter until you hit cancel or the brakes. The only reason I don't have one yet is because my parts came off of an auto trans car.

Yes i just want to bypass clutch sensor only once to test whole wiring.
Im thinking to splice into TPS near sensor. Easier to get there and more space to soldering This post has been edited by Makabra: Nov 8, 2013 - 2:25 AM |

I am gathering parts to do this mod on my 1996 ST. I was hoping that it would be a plug and play mod but it appears that it is not. Lets see what happens as I am getting parts.
Actuator is installed but I cannot find the wiring that connects to the actuator. There is a wiring on the passenger side of the radiator that comes from underneath the radiator but the plug is different. Any insight> |

This is not a plug and play mod unless you take the chassis and dash harness out of a donor car and then transplant into your 6gc. You will need to get the parts out of the donor cars wiring harness to make it all work. The plug in question will be at the cruise actuator on the donor vehicle and it runs under the radiator support to the drivers inner fender harness. Make sure the donor is an ST because the GT uses a different actuator.

Thank You Ryouxrs. I have the actuator from the ST as it fitted in my ST where it is supposed to. The wiring did not come with the actuator and i cannot locate the wire on my car. There is a harness that is not plugged and it comes out of the Relay box mounted on top near the windshield wiper fluid bottle on the passenger side. So far I have collected the following:
Steering wheel with switch that came with spiral cable; Actuator from an ST and cable (No wiring) Waiting on someone to sell me the CC module and the wiring. I read your instructions many times. I understood most of it except a couple of spots I have no idea what are you saying. there are no vehicles in the salvage yards where I live so have to rely on this form or ebay. |

If you have any questions I'll be glad to answer the best I can. The wiring for the cruise actuator will not be on your car at all, I'm not sure what plug you are referring too but like I said, you will have to install all of the wiring yourself. Just remembered something, if the wire harness that's not plugged in your talking about is a two pin connector then that goes to a temp switch in the radiator if you have a GT or a GT4. No need to worry about this connector with an st. It's just for radiator fan control.

Much Appreciated Ryouxrs. The connector next to the radiator now makes sense. I was talking about the round connector that plugs into the Actuator, I do not have that. The connector I am talking about is the one that plugs into the actuator. I think it runs from the CC ECU to the front of the car along the right hand side fender (I think).

That connector goes from the cruise actuator to the cruise control computer. But it's wiring actually runs from the right front fender, to under the upper radiator support then through the harness under the left front inner fender liner, through the firewall connector and then runs along the dash all the way to the right side of the dash where the cruise computer sits.

Got it thanks. I will double check this location. Do you think it may not have come with the NON-Cruise-equipped ST? Becuase most other cars including Toyota built the same wiring just not installed the parts. When you did yours, did you have this wiring already in place?

Unfortunately when it comes too the fog light wiring and the cruise control, none of the wiring will be in a car that didn't have those options, that's why I said you'll have to source the entire system from a donor car.
