Hi. I am seriously thinking of replacing my clothes seats with leather. The reason is that I am really getting tired of getting zapped by static electricity during winter. My first 6gc had leather, and I don't remember ever getting zapped after getting out of the car. I totaled that car, bought a used 6gc with clothes (it was 2001 and the car was of course already out of production). It was OK at first, I think, but as years go by every winter the static electricity problem got worse and worse, maybe due to the fabric wearing down. Or maybe it's the rubber compound on my new set of tires. I don't know. Or maybe it's my wool overcoat that I wear all the time when the weather is cold. What I do know is that I would like to have leather before this coming winter so I can stopped getting zapped.

I am looking at Katzkin and some sellers on eBay. I remember there used to be another big seller on the net but I don't remember the name. I think it was Classic Leather or something. But I couldn't find it so they might've gone out of business. I also need a good installer in New York City. I need leather seating surface so it doesn't have to be leather all the way around. Actually vinyl is good because I don't want to have to worry about carrying stuff and leave creases on the leather. But I need to sit on leather so I don't build up static electricity when I drive. My budget is $1000 to $1500. My 6gc is a 98 convertible. I would appreciate any recommendation or suggestion.

Thank you in advance!

Check the FS thread on this forum. Vincent_Doggy has some seat covers that would be great for you, for just a little $300 shipped. They aren't real leather, so you don't have to worry about creases, but they are a very durable material that looks and feels like it.
