I didn't really get into it until the 3rd movie, then I went and read all the books before the 4th one came out. They are really good actually. I'll be seeing the new movie as well.

i know i can't wait, whenever a preview comes on the tv, i stop and watch it. but i will say i'm a little disappointed in that its rated PG!!!!!!! its been awhile since i read the 6th book, but from what i remember it was fairly violent, which played a some what important role in the story. but PG, i mean that scene with malfoy and harry in the bathroom...if they dont show that entire scene ill be a little disappointed. oh well im so excited either way :]

Haven't read the books (debating though), a little torqued they waited almost 2 years to release the movie. HUGE fan of the movies, my wife and I both love them. We were ticked when we found out that Half Blood Prince was originally and ready to be released last November that they pushed it to July to try to make more money.

Fastbird, you HAVE to read the books. You cannot watch these without knowing the whole story, because not everything is covered in the movies. Plus, IDK why you wouldn't want to read them, the books are masterpieces.

It's gonna be good, hopefully...the books were great, but the books will always be better than the movies. I'm a little PO'd that The Deathly Hallows is gonna be split in two...I'm considering waiting for the DVD's to both parts to come out and just watching it at once. Then again, that does give them room to give the whole book a thorough covering and give the series a good ending.

SPOILER ALERT!

I'm excited though, I really hope they're gonna accurately portray Dumbledore's death and stick strictly to the book, because that event really seems to be the most important part of the movie.

Of course not, never said that. Where do you see that?

Everybody that read the books already knows the plot, of course.

i'm really anxious to see how this movie unfolds. i really hope they don't leave out anything important. and if you loved the movies, the books are like 10x better! i think i have watched the movies at least 100 times+++ they never ever get old. and neither do the books! you got 8 days to read book 6! haha

I could probably manage that book in 8 days. But again, you'd have to read the other ones first if you haven't done that.

Meh, I'd not call them masterpieces. They're appealing -- but the English schoolboy orphan who turns out to be king/wizard/prince isn't a new idea. Plot and pacing is questionable, characters are largely caricatures, and Rowling clearly has no issues with deus ex machina. However, as I said, they are appealing. I've read them all, but I've not found myself wanting to re-read them as I do most books. To put that in perspective, I generally read a book a half a dozen times over the course of a couple of weeks before turning to the next.

As a reader, I find myself driven to distraction by Rowling's addition to adverbs. At one point I counted and came up with somewhere around 20 "ly" in ten pages.

My favourite book for masterful use of the language -- prose in almost poetic form -- is Guy Gavriel Kay's duology "The Sarantine Mosaic" (Sailing to Sarantium and Lord of Emperors).

IIRC they held of the release of the movie so that they can release the final movies in close succession.

Needless to say I am pumped. Own all of the books and movies up to this point. The mrs. and I are going to see it next weekend.
