Personally i'm a huge fan of the spider and i fully believe he's the best lb/lb fighter in the UFC. if you didn't catch him embarrassing Forrest Griffin you might check out the video... here

I think GSP has a better change at it, Silva may still destroy him but GSP is a better fighter that griffin and I'm sure the fight will be more interesting that this one.
I'm glad I wasn't home, I would have been pissed if I would have paid for that fight. -------------------- |

What the hell is all this GSP talk? That won't happen for a long time, if at all.
Silva will rematch Hendo guaranteed. Or, White will get Silva to fight Machida regardless of what Anderson says. gsp will get owned all gsp do nowadays is take them down lay on them and throw a few punches and elbows boring Technical fighting is what new fans of MMA don't appreciate. You're better off watching WWE. This post has been edited by Akimbo: Aug 11, 2009 - 1:02 AM -------------------- |

Ground fighting in MMA is to...
...crashes in NASCAR ...Homeruns in MLB ...slam dunks in NBA at least for people that aren't really 'into' it. You only really wanna see big payoffs, big Knockouts, but you can't really appreciate the ground game, submissions, gaining position, etc. I love going to places where the fight is being shown, and two fighters are on the ground and some douche in a tapout or affliction shirt yells "this is boring, stand em up" The refs don't stand fighters up because it's boring for the fans. They stand em up if nobody is being aggressive, or attempting to move to a better position. Sorry but I have to rant as I've lost a lot of faith in 'fans' of the sport. -------------------- |

anyone can get lucky one day and kTFO of someone, but when you are on the ground, your real skills has to be shown, not often people get lucky and submit their oponent.
Silva has proven to be effective standing, but I rather see him on the ground, like a real spider, that's where he really shows all he got. hence the spider nickname. I just watched the full fight and that was honestly a joke, Silva was fighting with his guard all the way down, and he wasn't even moving as fast as he usually is, it was embarrasing for Griffin, I hope he can put this fight behind and keep his head up. I have to say this again, I'm glad I wasn't home to pay for the fight, Akimbo is right, those who always want a KO, don't really appreciate this discipline. -------------------- |

GSP is IMO alot better technical fighter than griffin, which would definetly help against silva. silva is just at the top of the heap right now, it is what it is, till the next evoloution comes along. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

problem w/ Silva vs St Pierre fight would be what weight class would they fight in. GSP is listed 170 and Silva 205. I'm not sure if that's walking weight or whatnot but they do fight in different classes. Griffin was a big disappointment in that fight. He just gave up after getting embarrassed. But two big names like that would draw a massive attention.
Guess the question then is whats the heaviest GSP has fought and lightest Silva has? |

IF it were to happen, and I'm pretty sure it WON'T until at least two years, then they'd be fighting at 185. -------------------- |
