He'll hopefully have it painted by the time this meet rolls around, but this is basically it. He picked out a good color. I'm just trying to convince him that a molded body kit on a daily driver is a bad idea, a body kit in general is a bad idea, and the wheels... Oh well. At least he intends to swap a 3S.
Edit: Kind of off topic, but does anyone else hate it when their post is the very first post on a new page? Everyone's staring at it and reading it and crap, and it's really kind of a useless post. The body kit could actually be done well, if done with taste......then the wheels just show it's true intentions and the whole project goes out the window lol.

Hahaha yeah, he's a little 2 fast 2 furious guy.. But even he hates those wheels. That's how bad they are. I tell him ditch the wheels, he says he needs paint. He is, however, painting the car in a BMW white. That'll look pretty good, if he gets different rims.

Alright. I was going to check out his car last time I was in Alton, but I didn't have enough time. Bit of bad news here... I may be able to pull it off, but more than likely my parents are going to make me drive our Camry. They don't like me driving that far in the Celica since it's got 165,000 miles and hasn't proved itself to be the best car in the world. I trust it to get me to St. Louis and back, but not to either of the coasts, for example. Any time I drive more than an hour away, I always have to take our Camry, just because it's brand new. I'm not complaining, because I love that car, but I want my Celica at a Celica meet. If this meet was happening tomorrow, I could bring my car for sure. But by next year, it will probably have over 200,000 on it. Yeah, I drive a lot. 4,000 miles a month this summer, with the worst being 7,000 miles in 30 days. And now that I'm going back to school, which is an hour away, I'm guessing the miles are going to be coming even faster. So I'll more than likely be driving our Camry, but I'll beg on my knees if I have to. Funny note, I said on October 24th that my car has 165,000 miles on it. I didn't drive anywhere this weekend, but when I parked it Friday, November 20, it had 171,500. Just a little update on 6,500 miles in less than 2 months for you guys. Anyway, somebody needs to bring a video camera to make a really sweet video of this meet. We can't let the SoCal guys show us up! -------------------- "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others labored hard for." -Socrates. And I thought that I racked up the miles quick..... There's just no way that I can put up 6500 miles in 2 months...
If anything, that's proof right there that the car can handle the trip! -------------------- ~bloodMoney

I do a ridiculous amount of driving, and that's only to school and work. I don't even do anything on the weekends. And that's not counting the mileage I drive when I'm not in my car, like the 350 mile one way trip to Nashville in our Camry this weekend. That's an extra 700 miles that didn't go on the Celica. Needless to say, I've pushed my oil changes back to every 5,000 miles. No need to change it every two weeks. At any rate, I'm buying a 3S-GTE right now and I'd love to have it installed in time for this meet.

When you get it, make sure that you don't make the same mistake I did when I got one for the alltrac.
Get a new clutch, Timing belt, Water pump, tensioner and thermostat. If you want to, now would be the perfect time to upgrade the oil pump to the 98+ 5S high volume oil pump. -------------------- ~bloodMoney

I planned on replacing all that. I figure it's a lot easier to do it before I put the motor in, so it needs to be done. I'm looking into clutches now. I'd like Exedy, but there are a lot of people on here running Spec clutches. I need to read up on the Specs, but I know Exedy makes a good product. I've never considered the 5S high volume oil pump though. That's not a bad idea at all. I'd rather be safe, and a new oil pump is one less thing I'd have to worry about. Thanks bloodMoney

Anybody thought of anything else fun to contribute to this? We've got a frisbee coming so far, an epic midwest photoshoot, anything else? I may be trying to get one of my 5th gen friends to come. His car is... uhm... It's a little ridiculous, but he's got good intentions. Anyone who loves Toyota should just show up... The more the merrier.............. |

That sucks dude But joining the Air Force is pretty cool. If you head back to the Midwest any time soon, you'll have to stop in for a meet.
Could we maybe get an updated list of who will be going? If I need to, I am only a couple of hours from St. Louis, so I can head over there one of these days and check out some of the areas we had discussed, maybe get some pictures so everyone knows where we might be. 1. richee3- I'm in. -------------------- "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others labored hard for." -Socrates.
