it was worse than it looked, i can't imagine in a car with hard suspension. teh celi is pretty tight but its nothing crazy or hard..and it was a jarring ride. i REALLY hope its fixed so i can have some fun safely vs 'oh **** thats all gravel i don't want to die'

name / how many ppl coming along with you / what you're bringing / staying over night Y or N
and italic your line in red if your not 100% sure you're coming bc if your in charge of bringing meat and you've decided to not go, well... they'll be eating just the buns then. Plus, this is also for head count of ppl so freddy121389 can reserve for the shelter.

example:
1 freddy121389 / 2 / 3 packs of hamburger meat / Y
2 keison2000 / 2 / 3 packs of hamburger buns / Y
3 richee3 / 1 / 3 packs of sausage / N
4 bitter / 3 / 24 pack beer / N

like so....

Bitter +1 (what do you need?)

also my friend with a turbo eclipse may be coming down from wisconsin.

also, you can't reserve shelters for groups less than like 30, its first come first serve. i plan on being out there somewhat early at whatever spot we pick but i highly highly suggest the spot along the river i suggested since parking for the fair grounds type area fills up FAST on nice weekends as does lodge area parking. i doubt many people know about the secret spot wink.gif only caveat would be if the river has flooded or is flooded it could be soggy.

I'm still in.

We just got back from The Dragon this morning and let me tell you, after that, driving is ruined for me.
Interstate driving is just plain boring now.... I need some corners!

Looks like I may be down if I can get that weekend off work. My wife will be out of town so I can just call that a "guys weekend."

Anyone else coming from the KC area to cruise up with? Or if I drove to St. Louis would anyone then want to cruise up together? Just figure that's a long 7-8 hours of driving by myself without anyone to at least flash their lights at me to keep me awake biggrin.gif

Oh and final question: Anyone else interested in going to Chicago before or after? If I'm driving that far I'm at least going to go all the way to Chicago and get some pizza.

St. Louis, eh? How are you getting to Starved Rock? What route, I mean. I may very well be going the same way. I may or may not be down to go to Chi town. Depends on my financial situation. Who knows how much extra cash I'll have.

Well google maps has me taking I-35 N out of Kansas City to 36/72 east across to Springfield, then up 55 highway. So I figured a little extra drive time to meet in St Louis wouldn't be bad, or meeting in Springfield would work too and save a little time.

Couple more questions: Is there a car wash nearby? I'm sure my car will be a mess after driving 8 hours lol
And is there a grocery store around there too? If I'm picking up meat or something that would need to be cold I'd want to get it up there instead of near home.

Sorry, haven't read thru all of the thread again to know the details other than the date. Could we get a summary of who's bringing what, if there's lodging/hotel/cabin, or something edited into the first page?

Hotels, the days inn in oglesby is probably a safe bet, near the park too. I bet theres grocery/car wash in Lasalle.

Google Maps has me going up I-55 then getting off on Rt. 51 towards Rockford. St. Louis would be a little bit out of my way, but I could definitely meet up in Springfield. I know it's not a big chunk of your drive, but it's a little bit.

I may not be the fastest there... and I may not be able to keep up in the corners.... But at least I can haul people kindasad.gif
