well i test drove the new subaru legacy and was wondering if anyone else had one. I need a larger car so my 6gc has to go plus i need to get something that wont attract the police, seems like i whenever i go out their after me. lol i dont speed or anything i just want your opinions on a good family car. plus imtired of my car

too bad they never made the Celica Wagon, I have seen photos of the prototype, unless they did and never bought it to the USA. Front end of a 6gc, back end of a wagon. Then you could have gotten it and had a real "Dragon Wagon".

You could go with a Subaru wagon, legacy wouldn't be bad either, but if you want something nice and also family....... Nothing says both like a Scion Box! And you still be with Toyota! :-D

lol sorry but i havent had that great of an expiriance with toyota man. I would like to know what are the things subaru owners like and dont like about their car. kinda how the cup holder in our cars get in the way(worse cup holder ever imo) is it just me or is it impossible to find windshield wipers that actually work (ive tried all of them even those counture crap and nothing seems to do their job right .) but i do like the celi looks and how it has that cheesy smile in the front lol

One thing I don't like on my WRX is how expensive general mainenance is. Need to change a valve cover gasket? Pull the motor. Want to change your spark plugs? Set aside an entire day of ending complaints. There is no room between the valve covers and the frame rail to get anything done.

The other thing I don't like is how cheap Subaru went on a lot of things. Subaru factory paint is the absolute worst. A decent sized bug will chip the paint on a Subaru. I would suggest if you're buying new to invest in a clear bra, or apply rockblocker to everything.


Lastly, and the major one (because you're there the most) the poorly put together interior that rattles, vibrates, and shakes from EVERYWHERE. My mom's 99 legacy GT does it, my WRX wagon does it, and my brother's 04 Forester XT does it.

That kind of thing would bother me...I don't mind the Celica cupholders at all, as I rarely have anything more than a water bottle on me. Also, I like that they're not actually "cups," since those areas usually fill up with hair, lint, dirt, etc., and are annoying to keep clean.

Also, I have a few rattles, but they're not constant, more like something that I hear when going over a speed bump. For a 12 year old car, I'm impressed with that.

i went to a dodge dealer today. theres three cars that catch my attention 1.the legacy(roomier than a wrx, feels more upscale too.) 2.a dodge 3500 turbo disel (just because I can, and im a plumber) its very confy and relaxing. 3.wrx (been a childhood dream!)

True that. Honestly, after I got my car and my family seen how long it has lasted me (or so it seems), I swear to God both sides mostly own nothing but Toyotas, and if it isn't Toyota it is Honda. Anyways, I have a few relatives that own that Camry Hybrid, 1 was so happy, the others followed with it.

I can't argue those choices, and I would normally hate on Dodge, but you can't deny their diesel engines. Dunno if they are the best, but I haven't heard any complaints with them.

My dad has a 2003 Dodge 2500 extended cab long bed. It has the 6sp manual turbo diesel and I absolutely love it. It is the only truck I've driven that actually feels like a car. It rides smooth, and freeway drives are a blast - even with a trailer on the back. They get great gas mileage (for what it is) and are pretty low maintenance. Plus if you have a warranty with it you'll have nothing to worry about if something does happen. The only things my Dad's has needed is the A/C fixed (slow leak caused by dealer).

i am not trying to attack dodge owners or anyone else.

as the topic says.. your opinion.. and my opinion is stay away from dodge because i personally prefer japanese made trucks over american made trucks

What he is trying to say is that when someone buys a Japanese vehicle, they are looking for something that will last, such as Honda or Toyota.


When people buy an American car, they are honestly going to end up trading it back in within 5 years and just get themselves a newer car.

I agree if it were in regards to GM, but my family and a handful of my friends drive Dodge vehicles - both cars and trucks. In my experience they're just as reliable as any other import.

Ok, I couldn't help but to take that last reply as a personal insult, and I am not going to attack you, but defend why I said that, because you have helped me with a lot of my questions, and I like you.


But given that you supposedly survey, yes? People who buy imports vs domestics.... I have one thing to say on that *(and yes I am drinking righ now). Resell value. Look at what the Celica sells for commonly. You got like 95's selling for like $6k and down to maybe $4k from a dealer. You find a 99 Mustang and could be a V8, selling for about the same price, if not lower. it is all in the VALUE. Imports are known to last, unlike American cars.. Now, You can slice that and dice it any way you please, but that's the truth. I am sure American cars will be built better in the future, but as far as engines go. I work and learn in an engine overhaul class with a teacher who owns his own shop and just as zealous for Ford as I am for Toyota. He knows they *Ford* as well as GMC (who are two very big american companies) do things on purpose just to be different, even though they don't hold as well on their vehicles. Now... As a rebuilder of engines, you can IMPROVE these things, but straight from the company, they aren't going to last you. There is a reason why you see more old imports on the road. Look around you! I promise you will see more Hondas and Toyotas vs ANY other car companies out there. I live in a very Agricultural place, with many diesel powered trucks and I will tell you this. We Have TWO , not one, but TWO Toyota Dealerships in my city that are very HUGE! No other authorized dealership in town is beyond 1.

That's my case. So to go and say what I said is ignorant, is only based off observation. Blame my city, not me.

My comment wasn't as a personal insult, so don't take it that way (I think its easy to pick out which posts of mine are personal attacks ) I do understand that domestic vehicles are a dime a dozen, and demand isn't as high as imports - thus, a low price. Its all about supply and demand.
