It's not quite 'old' yet, but I have to say that Half-Life 2 is the best game I've ever played...it's ridiculous. I almost don't want to finish it.

I still play Diablo 2, Baldur's Gate and Fallout 2. Hey which Baldur's Gate was it where there was a dude that was like "THe PRIEST! Someone killed THE PRIEST!". It made me laugh. Is it part 2 that is Shadow's of Amn? I dunno. I just know I used to play Dungeons and Dragons in high school, AND magic the gathering! WHAT?! I had the best elf deck ever! But it was a type 1 deck. Destroyed any infinite deck, from squirrels, to slivers. -------------------- 91 MR2 Turbo SW20, 92 MR2 Turbo SW20, 95 Celica GT ST204

We would just print out the cards from online and build our decks by cutting them out and putting them in card protectors. I made the best fast effects deck ever for 1 on 1. I think it was game over in less than 5 turns This post has been edited by jimmykay: Aug 19, 2009 - 8:12 AM -------------------- '99 Celica GT - Sold

We knew a shop owner who would hold all nighters after hours. We would order pizza and stuff and play in the store. On Fridays, I worked at a call center, so after work about 10pm, I would play all night and go home, take a shower, and head straight to work that Saturday at 5am-12pm for over time. They made all the newbies work that messed up schedule. -------------------- 91 MR2 Turbo SW20, 92 MR2 Turbo SW20, 95 Celica GT ST204

They made all the newbies work that messed up schedule. well, we just played with a small group of broke college kids that didn't want to spend +$70 for a deck. it was a great way to put them together and try out new ideas and combos. plus, if its common knowledge that everyone is free to print off their own proxies, it isn't hurting any player (sure, the card shop probably doesnt like the idea). I've actually still got the deck saved to a word document. -------------------- '99 Celica GT - Sold

It's not quite 'old' yet, but I have to say that Half-Life 2 is the best game I've ever played...it's ridiculous. I almost don't want to finish it. You still have Episode 1 and Episode 2. Such awesome games. Also, get Portal if you haven't already. It's a marvelous game, just far too short. Old school? Anyone ever play the original two Metal Gear games? I'm not talking about the NES bastardizations (MG2: Snake's Revenge on the NES wasn't even a real MG game, though Kojima still liked it). I mean the MSX versions. Even for their age, they are awesome games. Real difficult and intricate, especially for their time. -------------------- ~Moving on to a 2002 Corolla S~ R.I.P Tom Celica - 1994-2010 |

But aren't Episodes 1 and 2 pretty short? I'm excited to get into the story...the gameplay is so deep.

But aren't Episodes 1 and 2 pretty short? I'm excited to get into the story...the gameplay is so deep. They are short, I'll give them that. But the storyline is far too intricate to not want to play them... they are also just as fun as HL2. The first was in a league of its own, though. HL2 was good, but HL was just crazy on the first play through. I felt like I was glitching some parts of the game, or skipping around/advancing the wrong way, the puzzles were just so obscure and abstract many times that it feels like you're doing the wrong thing. Its dated graphics make it slightly less enjoyable now... Waiting for "Black Mesa Source" to be finished. It's a third-party conversion of the original Half-Life to the Source engine with vastly updated graphics, models, textures and levels. It looks gorgeous. I'm also eagerly awaiting Episode 3 and Portal 2. Shame that the "episode" trilogy is essentially HL3. Still, when everything's out, I will probably want to tank through all of the games in a row. Preferably one sitting This post has been edited by solidxsnake: Aug 19, 2009 - 10:23 PM -------------------- ~Moving on to a 2002 Corolla S~ R.I.P Tom Celica - 1994-2010 |

I have to say that I like HL2 a lot more than the original...the original was awesome, but looking back it felt a little repetitive...I mean, most of it took place in the corridors and hallways of Black Mesa, but HL2 is much more varied in setting. I'll definitely play the Episodes though, I want every single second of the story.
I think I'm getting close to completing HL2, I just finished Entanglement. -------------------- '97 ST \ Eibach \ KYB \ Kenwood \ Alpine \ Cusco \ OEM+ [sold 10/18]

Well, I just had my HDD replaced, which means I lost my "free" copy of HL2. So I bought The Orange Box, figured it's worth it. Downside is that I now need to start the game all over again, and I was almost finished.

I've been digging out some of my old games, even got my old computer out for some of the DOS based stuff that Windows 7 doesn't like. Mostly some Elderscrolls 3: Morrowind, old Need for Speed games, and Baldur's Gate.
