So I am obese, was 210 pounds 3 weeks ago now 190.6 lbs and still going at it 5'7. My Body mass Index says I am overweight.
Lately I am going back to school so I can use the Gym over there to do cardio and weight lifting. I'm working on my abs now and trying to get rid of that gut. Here is what I have been doing everyday, run 1 mile on the treadmill at super fast speeds and then doing a jogging pace alternating. Situps, push ups and lifting 25lb dumbells. I have a huge plastic ab Ball and its one of the best investments you can get for under $10. FOOD: Drinking mostly water and Sugar free / Low-carb drinks. For breakfast I eat 2 eggs cooked on a pan with non-stick spray with 1 cup of rice for Lunch 1 protein shake with a carrot. for dinner small piece of meat 1/4 the size of hand with vegetables on the side. Snack usually a side salad with lite dressing. My goals, 160 lbs with some good muscle tone. Anybody else also trying to get in shape? I'm taking pictures of myself every week so I can compare. Once I get that Goal planning to post em |

I want to, but my goal isn't so much weight loss as it is rehab from injuries.
I weigh 185 and I'm 5'10", and my weight hasn't changed in about 9 years. I'm just getting over a bad bout of shoulder tendonitis from last fall, caused by too much softball. I spent 6 months doing various treatments including physiotherapy, acupuncture and deep tissue massage, spent somewhere around $1000 on it too... I also have an old work related lifting injury that messed up my elbows, so lifting weights is a delicate process that I can only do in small doses to avoid a lot of pain. I have been using those thera-bands (look like big rubber hoses with handles) for some rotator cuff exercises, and they seem to help my shoulder. Anything more intense and my shoulder really flares up. Gotta go slow and steady... I purchased a recumbent exercise bike in the winter to help with nagging knee pain that turned out to be caused by a pinched sciatic nerve (too much computer me thinks...) and it was the best thing I could have bought. I only paid $150 for it (on for 1/2 price) and I try to ride every second day. I usually ride 8-10kms, usually 20-30mins or so as a fairly continuous pace of 20-25km/h. It has helped with my endurance and with the leg pain I was getting. As for diet, I'm not overly strict as weight loss isn't a major goal of mine. I avoid a lot of sugary drinks, fatty foods, fast food, drink lite-beer more often, don't put anything in my morning coffee, eat at least one peice of fruit and one piece of vegetables at lunch every day, try to take a salad to work once a week, etc. Small things that will add up over time. Nice! I'm 5'9", 150. Last winter, I was 165-170. All I did was start running, and never had time to get too far or too fast. I was running 8 minute miles for 2 miles every night. Then, around March, I started working and haven't had time to run as much, but still do every once in a while. I'm within 10 pounds of where I need to be, and I'm not in any hurry to lose the last few pounds, but it'd be nice.
Once you start shedding the pounds, that's all the motivation you need to keep going. Best of luck to you! -------------------- "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others labored hard for." -Socrates. LOL I need to get into shape. Mostly I think I just need to do cardio. My body just filled out a bit on it's own when I all of a sudden gained weight. I am 5'9" and 192lbs (195 with pants and shirt only and I just assumed I would be 192 without). I am a waist size 33, which I guess isn't bad, and size L in shirt (which I am not complaining). Not sure I want to go back to a medium, but I think I am slightly overweight or weigh more than I should. So once I get caught up on some bills, I am going to get a gym membership. Personally, I think I can eat whatever I want, and so long as I just workout and keep active, I will be just fine (as far as appearances go, not actual health. LOL).

I'm 6"2 and I was about 240lbs at the beginning of this year. I've managed to get down to 195lbs, now since I'm pretty happy with my weight, it's all about the muscle buliding

I've been running 4 miles every other day and lifting weights in between.
I just need to burn off some extra fat to reveal my abs. I never had 6 pack before so to get a set is my goal. Problem i have now is i am getting to skinny. Like chicken legs skinny. So i'm forcing myself to eat more while doing more weights. Hopefully that will balance off and i get some nice muscles. |

I've been trying to gain weight, kind of...I'm relatively small for my size, 5'8" and about 140ish pounds...used to work out a lot, did the protein shakes, and I was in shape then. I stopped working out after a month's vacation (no gym, so I got lazy) and haven't regained my former regimen since...I'm not fat, I'm just flabbier than I want to be.
But from what I know, your food regimen sounds great. -------------------- '97 ST \ Eibach \ KYB \ Kenwood \ Alpine \ Cusco \ OEM+ [sold 10/18]

my gf lost more than 20 lbs doing cardio so far...(it's still going down). she can't run or walk for a long time due to a knee injury so she started off with Billy Blank's Taebo. Now, she's advanced to Turbo Jam by some Charlene person. If you are really dedicated (really really REALLY) try "Insanity". It's a gruesome 2 month workout program where your body fat is cut in half (+/-)
http://www.beachbody.com/product/fitness_p...ers/insanity.do Eating right is definitely the key to losing weight. No carbs, nothing fried, but also not too much protein. Lots of fruits and vegetables. You also need to make the commitment to forever improve your diet. meaning no going back to old habits. your food looks good but rice is a TON of starch. It's good you eliminated high fructose corn syrup, but beware of sugar substitutes like aspartame. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aspartame -------------------- |
