Got some updates guys! the car has been at Souther car customs for a few weeks, and its my turn to be the car of focus for the week. I found out that the bolts that go into the tranny were stripped or broken off, and unrepairable, i opted for a newer tranny here is the rest of what i was told (i dont feel like typing the whole thing so imma cut and paste )
We got the new Tranny into today as well as the axles. We opened up the old transmission today and found some bad news the clutch plate is shot and when I say shot I mean shot. Attached are some pictures of the clutch. So we are going to need to get the flywheel resurfaced. The Clutch plate replaced and we also had to get new AC lines and an AC Compressor b/c yours are damaged. I received the the mount inserts and the mounts that needed replacing are supposed to arrive from toyota tomorrow. If we can get some answers soon we can still get this engine in the car by tomorrow. I heard from my friend in canada and they finished the Manifold and are shipping it out to arrive here tomorrow. i also found out that i will need new ac compressor and lines and a few other things pertaining to a crack in an area where the bolts are supposed to go into the block from the mainifold and im praying that it wont give a problem later. i have pics of it and i will give you guys an update later today or tomorrow about those cracks. I contacted teh place where i got the clutch from and found out that since it was over a year, it was out of warranty although the accident happened 3 months later. (but they sent me the wrong one! NOT A STAGE 2 LIKE I ASKED) i was told its an iron man from comp clutches. JUST ABOVE stock clutch. the flywheel will be resurfaced also THIS IS ONLY 3 MONTHS OF WEAR ON THE CLUTCH tell me what you guys think! It can't be good bro but from the pics it doesn't look like it went into the actual block itself. Maybe the Doc can weld up some ribs there [Or maybe that's an incredibly bad idea IDK]. This kind of thing is hard to say one way or another - very few engines are worth transplanting after a wreck, unlike yours which is IMO - so no real experience or hearsay to go by
Good God Man!!!! - WTF did you do to that clutch, Matt? LOL - Man pony up the $$$ and get a damn ACT stage 2 and be done with it or at least 3 years - not 3 months LOL. Weren't you just learnng manual at the time as well? And launch control at the track? And ST-215 power? Just get the ACT - you never hear any bad stuff about their clutches and I persoanlly have beat several stage 2's for both 5s and 3s to hell and they have never failed on me - ever. -------------------- ENGINE: '93 RC 3S-GTE/WRC CT-20b [18-20PSI] PERF: TRD/HKS/ARP/NGK/MSD/ACT/Blitz/STRI/APEX'i/TwosRus/GReddy/Magnaflo/KOYO SUSP: Tein/Bilstein/SusTech/ INT: SS-III SEATS/Toyota Hyper Sports EXT: WRC/TRD/404 Its a safety feature so that people like you don't end up killing themselves or everyone around them. Apparently DEATH missed the part where there were issues with SPEC cluthes for awhile (i believe even itchy blew one up if not 2)
But a quality clutch plate makes a night and day difference Matt are those cracks/damage done where the front motor mount bolts to the engine? This post has been edited by playr158: Aug 13, 2008 - 12:11 PM |

I ordered a comp stage 2 clutch but come to find out that it was the iron man series (just a step above) today i called the place i got the work done and the place they got the clutch but to no avail. too long ago. i am getting new clutch and throw out bearing along with the whole shabang because the pressure plate is messed up. its a street Series Clutch Kit - Stage 2.5 - Carbon Kevlar - Includes a performance pressure plate, a high torque sprung disc with antiburst steel backed Carbon Kevlar facings, including all the bearings i need For aggressive street use and moderate track use - according to what i read it should provide approximately 80% increase in torque capacity - -------------------- |

Hi, do not worry about those cracks... Simply do not use your A/C compressor. I'll post some pics of my block, they are the same as yours and I do not had any issues with it. My block cam from an accidented Caldina... But do not worry about theses cracks. I'll get the pics of my block soon to show you. They are near the same as yours.

My favorite was the nut grab shot LOL And yeah i must have been MIA when Spec had thier issues but for some reason I've never trusted the brand anyway [For my money there is no reason not to go with ACT] -------------------- ENGINE: '93 RC 3S-GTE/WRC CT-20b [18-20PSI] PERF: TRD/HKS/ARP/NGK/MSD/ACT/Blitz/STRI/APEX'i/TwosRus/GReddy/Magnaflo/KOYO SUSP: Tein/Bilstein/SusTech/ INT: SS-III SEATS/Toyota Hyper Sports EXT: WRC/TRD/404 Its a safety feature so that people like you don't end up killing themselves or everyone around them. NICE! LOL! I know right?!? i couldnt belive it!!! they said it was kevlar faced comp clutch. Doc told me when i first got the swap to stay away from puck clutches... i wonder why? (besides the fact that at the time i was just learnign stick?) Hi, do not worry about those cracks... Simply do not use your A/C compressor. Ah thanks man! i found out the cracks were actually where a portion of a bracket that supports the turbo was bolted in. i thought it was the exhaust manifold. couldnt tell from the pic.
