A cousin of mine has a 4e-fte gt starlet that used to be automatic with ECT-S.got some info 4rm him on how to use the manual mode from standstill.

1) engage manual mode, turn off overdrive switch and shift the gear to low(L).
2) takeoff and pay attention to the rpm meter.as soon as you think the max rev you want has been reached, shift the gear to 2.
3) do the same for gear 2(pay attention to the rpm meter.as soon as you think the max rev you want has been reached, shift the gear to D).
4) when you've put the gear to D,quickly turn off the manual mode, turn on overdrive and the ECT-S PWR switch.

NOTE:im not sure this method will work on all ECT-S gearbox as i've gathered that this is the concept used on the dogbox gearbox(i dont even know what
that is).but i have tried to toggle my
gear from L to D and it happens effortlessly(without braking)so i think it just may be possible to do so.

Anyone have any info on this??anyone ever tried doing this????well,im kinda scared to try it out on my ride......

are you saying you want to shift the gears with an automatic?

You can, it is fine, the shifter is designed to not go where it is not supposed to, from 1>2>D>N it will slide in and out without the button or brake, and N>D will, but D>2>1 i think requires you push the button (not brake) and R and P cant be in unless on brake.

You have the gears right though, the ECT thing just allows the gears to shift at higher RPM values and should remain on PWR shift if you are driving it like this, so to shift manually all you need to do is have OD off and shift 1>2>D> OD button.

Edit, and yes i have done it on another car, no damage done.

No, it looks like a hooker put her acid vag on your hood. Acid vag = bigger problem than a few dings.

dog box term doesn't apply to automatic gearboxes.

think pre 80's trucks and double clutching.
