Well ladies and gents I'm fairly new but I've had love for 6gens for awhile. I bought a 94 gt coupe and I love it but then I came across a 96 st hatchback automatic for only $200!! I couldn't resist such a wonderful deal, he didn't know what was wrong with it so I bought it and fixed it in 20 minutes lol. He had a fuel pump kill switch that was off lol. I don't lk the coupe but my st doesn't have a sunroof and has a few ding around it. What do yall think I should do? I really want the hatch but is it worth all the trouble of swapping the tranny and engine?

don't swap the engine from the GT into the ST. it's too much of a hassle.
i forget which engines swap into the ST pretty well, i bet some other members will pitch in their knowledge.

First things first, welcome to the site!

It wouldn't be worth the trouble to switch the engines at all. The general consensus GT motor doesn't have enough power to make the swap worth the trouble you would have to go through. The ST will get better gas mileage than your GT, so the cost to own is cheaper. Plus the new ST might have other unknown issues, where you know all the issues with your GT. Ultimately, the decision is yours about which car you keep. Ideally, you could drive one of the cars daily and turn the other into a project car, but that is an expensive venture.

Be sure to post pictures of both cars! thumbsup.gif

That would be the 4A-GE Silvertop, 4A-GE Blacktop, and the supercharged 4A-GZE.

First off, get a manual transmission wink.gif

Second, if I were you I wouldn't hassle with swapping the 5S from the GT in and getting your ST engine bay all dressed up for an S series engine. You could keep the 7AFE, get a head from a 16V 4AGE and swap it on. You'll gain a few hp but now you can add in a supercharger making it a 7AGZE. Or you could just swap in the whole 16V 4AGE, which honestly, I wouldn't do. The 16V 4AGE only has about the same hp as our 7AFE motor, there's also a 20V 4AGE you could swap in. They have the silvertop and the black top. The blacktop makes about 10-15 more hp and revs a bit higher, but it's usually about a grand more. What you could do is swap in a 20V 4AGE and turbo that sucka lol.

Just my 2 cents.

Yea I was thinking about doing that and using the money for a 3s swap on my coupe. I would like to use the hatch but from what I've read, its just better to stick to my gt.

Sell them both and find a 5 speed GT hatchback with a sunroof?
