http://miami.craigslist.org/mdc/cto/1349906077.html

Well, I'm looking for used tC rims with tires, because I'm going to repaint them anyway. There are two sets of sellers on craigslist in South Florida selling with tires and that's it...the other one isn't answering his phone. My problem with this guy is that the price is a bit out of range after adding the cost of supplies and an alignment. Also, I've done a small bit of research on the tire (which I believe are RE050's) and while my primary concern of safety is met, I've also read that the tires are noisy and tend to cup after being rotated. I offered him 250, my max is 300. I've yet to hear from him after he said he'd think about it (this was a few hours ago). According to him, the tires had 70% tread left, which is fine.

Can anyone chip in with experience/remarks about the tires?

i hated the stock tires i had on my tC rims, invest into some falken FK452's. they are affordable and perform very well.

Tires don't last forever.

I haven't had experience with those tires you speak of, but i just replaced some BFG KDW2, and i've learned that tires fall into two or three categories..

1. grips the road no matter what, may be noisy, and get poor wear, but it can do this!!! laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

2. long life tires that offer very poor road grip, more for highway miles

3. a combo of the both, although neither grip nor life is at its best

My KDWs held the road no matter what, but they were very noisy, i mean VERY noisy, i couldn't bear the noise anymore. People couldnt hear me on the phone, i couldnt hear the radio, or myself think. They wore TERRIBLY, one side of a single tire was beyond the wear bar, and the other side of that same tire had meat, lol. I rotate religiously every 6k. just bad wear.

but like i said... tires dotn last forever, if you get the deal on rims go for it.

Thanks for the insight, both of you. Here's my thinking: this is the only deal out there and I'll have to replace my tires eventually anyway...if I get great performance in the meantime, then that's fine.

Also, I've looked both on craigslist and ebay for 7GC GTS rims and I've found only one set for $620. Not doable.

It's also a consideration. I couldn't find any GT-S wheels on ebay or craigslist, but I have a guy at the shop I go to looking for tC rims and tires for me, so I can ask him to look at those GT-S wheels as well. If anything, I'm gonna still go with the set in the original post.
