Well today after rewiring the rear speakers i noticed a little ticking coming from the firewall,so i poped the hood.I can hear a VERY slight clicking sound coming from the block(not the valve train).I haven't noticed any performance problems, average 32 mpg,no power difference, burns a little oil.Engine only has 90k on it.What do u guys think it is?Tomorow ill be changing the oil and hopefully compression test it..

I wouldn't worry bout it. Might just me lifters ticking. Getting the oil change will more than likely get rid of it. If not check your oil pressure or run thinner oil.

Agreed, ticking usually isn't too terrible ,Toyota 4 cyl economy engines often sound a bit like sewing machines anyways. A rod knock is a very distinctive sound, make sure you keep the oil up and just notice if it gets louder.
If it really bugs you or gets worse quickly(like rod knock will) then you can record the sound and post it so we can have a listen for ya. |

Changed the oil to synthetic now the noise is gone.Compression test was 145 146 144 148(old comp tester)...but now its leaking oil, drain is tight, filter is tight....looks like its the oil pan gasket to me..Any other places i should check?
