Hi,
I just bought a 95 Celica GT convertible and it so fun to drive . I have the stock CD/radio/tape system with 6 speakers and unfortunately the left channel is dead. Occasionally, the right front door speaker drops out as well, which can be remedied by turning off the stereo, waiting a while and then it comes back, or changing from tape to FM mode. So before ripping things apart too much, can anyone use these symptoms to troubleshoot why the left channel is out? My feeling is that it is the stock amplifier, rather than the speakers. Is it possible that only the two channels are blown in the amplifier? Are these stock amplifiers replaceable and does anyone have one for sale? Is there an easy test, like swapping the left output of the amplifier with the right output to test whether the left side stock speakers are ok? I would like to just keep the stock unit and use the existing speakers if they are OK, so if anyone knows of an aftermarker amp that can be swapped in, I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks! the problem is more likely caused by your stereo or amplifier, than your speakers. easiest way is to try out another stereo since it only takes a couple of minutes to replace, if that checks out then it's probably your amp.
