So, I finally pulled my 97 Celica out of storage and put a new system in it...put down my windows....pulled into a parking lot, tried to put up my passenger side window..won't go up..from both controllers, checked to make sure I didn't have the passenger side turned off with the safety button...It won't go up..it makes a click sound when I hit the down button like electricity is flowing thru it,nothing when I hit up.............

Please help! Ahhh, I don't want to have to buy a new motor for my window and replace all the crap cuz I have to be in NY for monday night...3 hr drive.

Also,if you know the answer, please respond in forum cuz my mailbox is jam packed cuz I just got back on.

Ah well, looks like I have to drive my 92 GT to work :-(

first check to see if maybe a fuse is blown.

Does it make any noise when you try to put it up ? (hum or click) ?

it may be that the window fell off track. If it wasn't used for a while (being in storage), the grease on the track could of dried up and caused this.

Take the panel off and I am sure you will see the problem

ok,so,...I still don't know is wrong because I only had a 1/2 hr of daylight after work. the motor does not move the cable up or down. I don't really see a "track" per say but there isn't much movement in the window glass from side to side.

If it is the motor, does anyone know much it was to get a new one?

checked fuses in the engine and under the steering wheel...doesn't even seem to be a controller for the door, my friend suggested a bad controller behind the glovebox or somewhere else behind the firewall.

hey,

Sorry for the late reaction.
i had the same problem.
this is my solution:

I have taken out all window switches.
open the switches en make them clean with some alcohol.
then make them dry en put it all back in.
i did both side`s the passenger and the driver side.
the driver side is a little harder to do but it works fine for me.

Sorry for my bad English i am a Dutchman

ok now i have the same problem...

it was stuck rolling down about 2 inches, then back up to close all the way...

NOW after trying to roll it down all the way, it made crunching noises going down. after that: it only rolls up about an inch and back down. like the motor is too weak to bring it up or something is stuck on the track. i'm getting a new motor tomorrow if anybody has any info on this-(easier fix/experience) let me know because the window actually moves. im thinking its just the motor.

Check fuses, if u installed front speakers check if u connected all the wiring harness back in cuz if u didn't that might be the problem. Then get some WD40 and spray connections if they look bad (if they are fine then u might start looking for a window electric motor)
