I have the same issues on my 94 Celica GT - Manual transmission. I never had a clue because bought this car as an used. It never worked since then. However, it has the cruise control trigger, makes a tick noise on the passenger side when its switched on in vain. I assumed the previous owner simply disconnected it. I'd like to turn it back on working. Can anyone advise where to put my hands on first? |

I think they changed over to electronic cruise control at some point probably in 1994 as that's what mine has 1996. I think the vacuum type is easier to diagnose and fix since it's often the vacuum solenoid that's bad on them.
For the electric type, I'd start with a multimeter and a wiring diagram after checking fuses and linkages. Cruise control can be tricky to repair, if you make repairs and get it wrong it can be dangerous(sudden acceleration) so keep that in mind when you start working on it. Not trying to put you off from DIY though. |

well since i had access to ALLDATA today i saw that there's a TSB for my vaccum cruise control. something to do with the ecu not letting the cc set and the vaccum acuator itself. i'll call my mech at the stealer and see if i can get anything done.

does your parking brake light on the dash on?
It happened to me before when my parking brake indicator was on all the time for some reason and I was wondering why my cruise ctrl dont work. Its like when you press clutch or brake or pull your e-brake, it goes off or cc wont engage. -------------------- God made man....
