so then wtf was the whole point of having the lowest center of gravity in the middle of the cockpits a$shole so it will handle like a sports car its a 20+ thousand sports car made by toyota not a lambo or a viper or vette seem like toyota was trying to make a fun sporty car that look good an fun to drive but left room for improvement so the owner could make it handle look an preform how ever he/she wants -------------------- 95 gt coupe, v6 swap weekend toy

Point taking ignore idiots at the end of the day its good to see toyota make a good sports car again regardless to what brand name it has on it Point taking ignore idiots at the end of the day its good to see toyota make a good sports car again regardless to what brand name it has on it What the f*ck? iPhone autocorrect fails me. In this thread: fail, silliness, and otherwise normal adults being children.
...hopefully, once this car is on the road and you've test driven it you'll have better opinions of it. Until then, at least it isn't another Corolla...you know, the cars you guys bitch Toyota makes too many of and not enough of the cars we used to love. -------------------- Has no more Celicas

I have seen the reasonably priced car handle better on top gears track...if that makes me a complete idiot so be it. Like I give a sh1t -------------------- |

Yea an there doin like 60-70 around that track an those ppl aren't pushing that car nearly as hard as he's pushing that gt-86
your talking 2 different drivers an 2you different cars with 2 completely different drive trains stick the stig in it an put him on the test drive track an it'll blow that low buck car away you ever stop to think that this is a brand new car that most people that have drove it have very little seat time in it so they left little on the table not even the stig gets his best time one the first lap in a car he's never driven -------------------- 95 gt coupe, v6 swap weekend toy

its not the car we all wanted it to be. Everyone wanted a supra, but toyota cannot afford to sell a 40k sports car in this economy.
By branding as a scion, and lesser options, its being brought to a country with a shaky economy. So I see their point. Anyone complaining should buy a LFA. LOL. Its a good car for the money. -------------------- Learned a lot in 10 years... I hardly log in anymore, last login Today Sept 6 2019, and I was forced just to clarify a post. LOL

thats a good point, i need to turn the volume up, my laptops speakers werent good enough... and some of you forget that ken gushi isnt some pushover driver, that only drifts, he's actually a very good driver so the stig driving it is a moot point since gushman can do the same thing, he was just drifting it because that is what scion will be giving him next year.
and guys, please, stop namecalling and arguing... i dont want a really good thread to get locked. if so....IBTL. This post has been edited by easternpiro1: Dec 12, 2011 - 8:03 AM -------------------- |

I watched that video of Ken drifting it around and I am not so gun hoe about calling out this vehicle as "handles like a champ" car. Let me explain MY interpretation of what I saw. Ken was on a wet track in light drizzle. You can drift or powerslide virtually any vehicle even celicas. Mr Player158 was showing off his epic driving skills on one of our meets years ago all over the parking lot doing twirly twirls and powerslides in a front wheel drive 135hp celica. Heck my 236 hp 4x4 toyota tacoma becomes so tail happy in wet conditions its not even funny. In hands of a professional drifter like Ken on a wet track yep this car drifted or powerslided. Unfortunately if you turn the volume up and listen you can hear that engine really bog down on corner exits. It was like vroom vroom (maxing out the rev limiter) then powerslide then wait for it wait for it wait for it.... vroom and rpm dropped and car exited out of corner at quarter of speed he went into the corner. Those were MY observations. And then we saw GREDDY's vision of FRS on some parking lot with like a 100 people all around. At some point towards the end they turn on the engine and you can hear that wonderful rev that sounded more like a lion cub from lion king than a powerful roar that you normally get out of greddy exhaust. it did not have the umpf behind it. I was very surprised because normally on catback exhaust configurations you can make even 97 hp st celicas sound like they are from 9th level of hell waiting to come out and conquer. On the bright side I think its good that more and more we hear about supercharges, turbochargers, possible engine swaps etc etc. I figure this car really deserves 300 hp if they can squeeze that much out of it with bolt ons. I don't think everyone cares about how loud the muffler will sound. Any car can sound like the mighty Mufasa with the right muffler. Speaking of exhaust notes, I've seen that video you speak of. I actually think it sounds perfect for a 200hp car. At least it doesn't sound like a fart can ( which ALOT of people have ) Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhVPdJUtrLI...player_embedded |

I still think it's absolutely fantastic. Goonter, you're right, it does sound good. It sounds like a bit of a four-banger tuner, which is alright. I appreciate other exhaust pitches a bit more, but for being apparently stock, it sounds great to me. This is a Scion we're speaking about with a stock exhaust note like that! Fairly amazing.

What Toyoubaru should have been is this:
$21999 for 150hp base model $23999 for 200hp upgraded model $26999 for 250hp sport 1 package $29999 for 350hp twin turbo sport 2 package That is how new camaro came out. Same car.... different engines. Nice and simple... you go to the dealer and get yourself a car YOU want. -------------------- Captain Pessimist

Of course it is photoshopped. Look at the window line. It doesn't meet the end of the door, and the rollcage is a good way up the door as well. Definitely fake. Looks great, but the artist's attention to the details is meh.
