Thinking of buying 225/40 / 18s. Have the car lowered on TRD springs. Think it's about 1-1.5 inch drop.
Will those tires fit without rubbing? If not what tire size do I need on 18s with that setup. |

If not what tire size do I need on 18s with that setup. yeah those are the right tires for 18x7.5 or 18x8 on 18x8.5 225s will be just a little bit streched. if you only have a 1.5 drop it wont rub at all. are the wheels even close to the fender lip? -------------------- |

For the:
8.75 +30 - Want a 5mm spacer 8.75 +30 - Want a 20mm Spacer for flush in the rear. For the: 8.75 +20 - +10mm Poke 9.75 +20 - +7mm Poke Or something similar, haha. With the poke, you will need negative camber, watch how low you are, and they SHOULD clear your teins. 5mm spacer is barely noticible, 20mm spacers are easy to get. -------------------- |

Thanks Timmyface, but the first set is 35offset not 30. If I went spacers, I would like hubcentric, but the lowest you can get in those is 28mm I'm told. Maybee I can convince the shop to sell me a pair of 35 offset and a pair of 20 offset. Use with camber bolts at the back. |

Hi All,
My 1995 ST has 17'' wheels with 35mm offset. I run 215/45/17 tires. I'm contemplating lowering the car and fitting spacers to widen the track. This is mostly for the looks really, but I make every effort to convince myself that this will improve the handling; and I hope it does too - I'd really like to have a firm gokart-like ride if possible. Anyway, I've read this thread (... not continuously though...) and basically copied the advise given to another member here with the same wheel/tire combination asking what spacers to fit. The answer was: Front: 20mm Rear: 37mm So far so good - especially if someone could re-confirm this (please...?) Now, if I also lower the car some 30-35mm all around, will the tires rub into the fenders? I'd expect this to be most dangerous during hard cornering. A little voice inside me tells me that the lowering springs would/should be stiffer and therefore the suspension at maximum compression (bottoming out) would/should be the same as stock. Am I right? If not, does anyone know what the limit is in dropping the car? I absolutely do not want to run stretched tires (for various reasons, mostly because I question their roadholding during cornering - and cornering is exceptionally important to me - and second because my tires are brand new anyways). Rolling the rear fenders in gives me the creeps, but I suppose if I am to do this right, I'll roll them. Any comments, ideas etc highly appreciated. Thanks Manos |

True or False ? to have a flush look with these rims: Front: 18x8.5 5x100 35 Rear: 18x9.5 5x100 40 i will need 8mm spacer in the front and 23mm spacer in the rear ? btw: i got rid of my miro 17x10, they were to wide and too poked ! it depends on the tires you are using too. this was my setup front 18x8.5 +33 rear 18x8.5 +23 w/ 225/40 tires and it was pretty flush. the key barely fit and i had a -3 camber. i used camber bolts on the rear too now i have 215/35 and now the tires are a little streched. by streching them i made the gap bigger between the fender and tires. and that gave me 10mm from the fender to the tires but the wheels still sit flush to the fenders. ok that was to explaing how tires affect the flushness to answer yor question YES you will be pretty close but i personally dont like staggered wheels on FWD cars thats for RWD well thats just how i see it. if i were you i would get the 18x8.5 all around and front ET+35 rear ET+25. you will need only a 10mm spacer on the rear and you will be pretty flush. and you will need to roll your fenders for sure. YES the front ones too. if youbdont they will cut your tires when you turn. (well if your car is lowered) with that set up you cant go wider than 225/40 tires because it will rub. you can get 225/40, 215/35, or 225/35. -------------------- |

To answer your question about lowering springs, YES, they are a little bit stiffer than the stock suspension.
If you are looking to do it for track purposes / cornering, I would recommend coilovers, especially since you want to space out the wheels too. |
