Wrecked my first Celica also... went about 70mph into a wall (sideways) and crushed the car after the engine failed... That celica was originally a daily driver turned project car after my RX7 broke down... damn those rotaries... The current car was bought because it was DIRT cheap at the time...

Holy old thread! But why not.....
I bought our Celica because I needed a new more comfortable daily driver than the old 89 Celica I had (was falling apart, no A/C, running issues, ect). So, given how good the old one had been to me, I naturally went for a 6GC. -------------------- |

My stepmom had worked with a lady for years who had always owned sports cars and her two most recent cars were Celicas. Then she had grandchildren, so she decided to sell her ridiculously well taken care of 6gc to buy something a little bit bigger so she could get a car seat in it. She bought a Solara and before she had a chance to even mention to anyone else that her Celica was for sale, we bought it. Had it 5 months to the day and a deer stepped out in front of me. Bought this one because I had been without a car for several months and it was the only one for sale within 300 miles at the time. And because my parents wanted it. I would have rather waited and got one that I knew would be a better car, but my parents were paying the bill, so we bought this one.

I was looking for a nicer car because my fancy assed Xgf thought my truck was too redneck
to be seen in. I was looking at A4 audis when I saw the celi, which I had always loved the styling of but couldn't ever find one. I completely forgot about looking at A4s and bought it. Six years later I still love it. -------------------- JDM guy made me do it.

I was looking for something with better gas mileage than my Olds. Was originally going to get a Civic b/c they're fairly cheap, but my neighbor was selling his Celica which I fell in love with as soon as I saw him drive up in it a few years before. And now, I still own the car, love it everyday!

Well i was given the choice on my senior year in high school to find a car OR my parents were gonna buy a.......get ready
...........KIA Sonata!!! WTF!?!?!? So i hunted down the closest thing to a 1st gen Celica cuz my dad has one and we still have it but its mines now Four eyes, sexy, dark color, manual, rare in my area, and something different. This led me to the 6gc, four eyes, sexy, black (my choice), rare, no has/had one (Herosblade my cousin has one now, he lives like 5 secs away ) in the area, different from the other cars, and BAM!!!!!!! I be ballin' in the cellly ever since making it more unique and sexier than ever. -------------------- I don't normally drive fast, but when I do its on a curvy section of this island

dad bought the celica after celica his tundra. Brother crashed the celica after taking his friend and I down neighborhood area and got to 60 mph in 2nd and started braking too hard and tires locked it becuase it had just finished raining. He went up a curb and crashed into some bushes. Broke left a arm and left side fender. Car was given to me after everything was fixed. my brother was grounded and took out the celica without permission so they gave it to me.
Was glad i had a car I after started driving it at 15 and a half with permit. Then i found the 6gc webiste and liked the celica even more. Then about last year of october 2007 i totally fell in love with the ss-III w/ 3sge beams engine. Its my dream to have a ss-III replica minus the rhd and superstrut suspension. I just fell in love with the body lines more than the power plant. I've always thought it was the best gen Celica. From the first time I saw one in 04' I knew I had to have one.

I fell in love with the GT4's in Gran Tourismo and before then had never actually seen the 6th gen. then toyota bastardized the celica with the 7th gen and I had completely written toyota off my list of cars I liked.
Then in June of 2001 my '92 Grand Am died with something electrical, and 2 weeks later they still couldnt figure it out, so I started my car shopping. I found this on a lot and fell in love with it. Instantly remembering what I loved about the car that I would drive only in video games. It stretched my budget more than I wanted, but I loved the car and things worked out. Now i'm just about to hit the 100k mi mark since I bought it and I still love it just as much as when I got it 'new'. Its been my daily driver, my toy, my truck, and my racer. I love it. -------------------- '99 Celica GT - Sold

well i just fell in love with toyota's being around them so much, grew up playing Gran tourismo and loved the gt4s and the celica's....all ways wanting one i could never find one in my area as they are really really rare. i got stuck wth a tercel as my first car and i bet the bag off it and i loved how it just took the abuse, next car i bought trying to get a lil sporty i got a 200sx 5spd wish was a money pit......when it was time for something reliable again i searched for xrs corrola's and looked at a few 240s but i wanted something un toched and some thing no one had.....a good friend of mine had boughten this car 2 years prior and i was so jealous cause it was a gt-s a 5 spd and red.....every thing i wanted!!...i had joined this site years ago and had done my research on what model i would need to swap a 3s into it....low and behold she put it up for sale.....lots and lots of ppl looked at the car and were gonna buy it......i said screw it and went and took out a loan so i could snag it up knowing it wouldnt last long on the market....now its mine!!! had it for almost a year now, take very good care of it and keeping it clean as possible and not ricing it out.....now im saving for a swap for the winter....if still got big plans for it.......most of all i like about it is the lines of the car and how it handles. i know own my dream car now iv just gotta make it the way i want it

I've wanted a 6th Gen since they first came out, but at the time I couldn't afford one, so I drove an '89 Celica for a couple of years. Sold it to get something bigger, drove an SUV for a few years and then gas went up and my commute got LONG. I sold the 4Runner so I could finally buy that 6th gen celica I'd been wanting for over 10 years and while I still miss my 4Runner 2 years later, I'm really happy with the Celi, even with its ridiculously high miles it's got
I think even if/when some day I sell my Celica, I'm always gonna be a Toyota girl. They're just bulletproof. -------------------- |

I bought mine as a second car for my dad and I.. We got it for $600, needing a transmission, and we got the trans. for $100. Its coming along slowly but surely.
Plus it gets AMAZING gas mileage, and is cheap to maintain. |

Former motorcyclist, balls shrunk/brains grew. Ditched the Kawasaki for a Toyota under the "toyota built tough" illusion. Required two door sports car with a minimum of 2.0 liter engine. Ended up with a 3S-FE powered SS-I having no clue about the different suspension/performance options, thinking all Celicas were 2.0 liter sports cars boy was I wrong.
Anyhow, Since then I upgraded to an SS-III with the 3S-GE/LSD/Superstrut/2pot brakes and I thought I had found my Celica heaven, boy was I wrong again. Now I have a 1996 GT-Four, now this is what Celica is all about, the rest are childrens toys. -------------------- Mike W
