Thought I could do my very own project topic!
I´ve been saving money, and from now to June the car will be gettin' new mods. The mods I´ve been thinking are - custom CAI - custom exhaust system - New superlight rims, OZ Superturismo GT is a possibility, I´ll post bad photoshop pics if I get ideas! - some subtle interior mods, bucketseats maybe - GT-four rear spoiler I was thinking of buying an HKS header, but I´ll keep to the stock header, I dont think there really is much difference in performance between them. The custom CAI an exhaust will be made out ... rosteri, which is more than I can translate to english they are made at my buddies enginetuning-shop, and I think they will be great. GT-four spoiler will be made out of glassfiber by a friend of mine, and he´s going to use his GT4 as a cast. Superleggeras will be the last one to arrive, in june. I borrowed a picture from here and made a picture of a celica on ultraleggeras and it looked good, though I cant photoshop so i did it with PAINT Feel free to tell what you think about the project. Yesterday me and Celli were on the tuningshop doing the CAI -install. But instead of getting a CAI, we decided to go with a shorter pipe and leave the filter under the hood, where it shouldn´t get full of dust etc. and we also used the stock piping to get cold air to the filter. No my face has been twisted to a smile because of the sound <3
I really have to say, that those guys at the tuningshop really knew what they were doing, for example look at the weldings on the pipes turns. and of course, a teaser pic. and something bad also. Some of the joints of my frontleft superstrut is probably broken, it squeeks like hell. This post has been edited by Penkka: Mar 21, 2008 - 10:18 AM -------------------- |

those are nice welds, but once question. Why did you go to a tuning shop to get an intake done? Actually another question, did they dope you into doing a short ram intake instead of a whole CAI system?

Actually another question, did they dope you into doing a short ram intake instead of a whole CAI system? Actually, why wouldn´t I? I know the owners, so I know that when I go there I am with real pros who know what they do and help me get the best out of that 3S-GE. And they did dope me going short ram, because they thought it was wiser, as the filter wont be getting full of dust, as it would have probably happened. CAI is better for a track car, but when its on daily use, short ram is the way to go, I guess. -------------------- |

Well if you are going short ram for daily use, atleast get a heat shield for that thing. You are basically going to be sucking in heat from the engine.

extractors already have head shield. (btw nice 3S-GE ) but you could pick up a cheap samotor* heat shield for cheap
also for your custom exhaust system, what sizes are you doing 2 1/4" or 2 1/2" piping mufflers and freeflowiee?? post pics when installed nice and shiny intake pipe, but what is that just above the airfilter a sensor of some sorts? mine just has idle hose and a small one for airflow sensor.... -------------------- |

You are basically going to be sucking in heat from the engine. as the filter is located in the bottom half ot the regular box, it works as a shield for now, and it gives the filter cold air as the air flows from the piping. I haven´t really decided which piping im going to use, I´ll see what those guys at the shop offer mee, it´ll probably be 2,5" with a big jap-muffler.. And that sensor, it measures intake air temperature, and controlls the injection, so it knows when the engine is cold, and when to give it more fuel. But in here as the temperatures goes from -30 to +30 it is needed, because it could go too lean when the air is colder. -------------------- |
