first let me start by saying, i know that this is not a lot of people's personal preference, and well i don't really care about making this car look anything even resembling show quality. since i will be driving this car in rallyx, driving it off road, and running the canyons at night, these lights will come in rather handy.
basically i had these lights that i bought for my last car, but never had the chance to install them. i went and got some materials from home depot for the light bar, cut them to length, and got all the necessary wiring and connectors. i had a guy at work weld the steel together for the bars and then this weekend i installed everything this weekend. still have some things to finish up tonight, but its about 85-90% done. i wired everything so that i can run my low beams, high beams, and all four fog lights at the same time. all i know is that the people in the house at the end of the street must have hated me last night cause them lights was bright as hell. oh, and i got two other little foglights that are sitting around that i'll install later in the spots where stock fog lights would go. |

Nice job
I assume you're mounting the spotlight support bar to the bumper support bar. Just one observation - Do the spots block off the air intake to the radiator? EDIT: Probably not...seem to sit where the number plate usually goes. (Answering my own questions now) This post has been edited by 3TST: Dec 8, 2008 - 3:31 PM |

the lights don't block anything and i just used the pre tapped holes for the stock fog lights in the crash beam. pretty solid and works just fine. can't wait to get out in the canyons and test them out for realz.

I gotta say, that looks kind of awesome...I'm sure this setup would perfectly match a GT-4.

Nice, show us difference with / without these extra lights from driverŽs position ..
I think that at least two of them must burn not directly but wide so youŽll see around a corner .. -------------------- Ž95 T20 GT

Wow look at that! So... umm.. everytime you want to use them, you'll need to take off the lids manually?

Nice, show us difference with / without these extra lights from driverŽs position .. I think that at least two of them must burn not directly but wide so youŽll see around a corner .. will do, just need to get some time to aim them the way i want, then i'll post up pics. you are correct on the lights. the 500's are meant to be a fog light that "fans" out the light and covers a wider area. the 500 FF's are the clear lenses and the reflectors in the back of the light is what directs the light like in most modern headlights. the FF's have a more straight ahead beam. i put the hid style bulbs in the FF's and i'm really contemplating getting another set for the 500's since they are def whiter and brighter. hell the FF's are actually brighter than my headlights. i plan on moving the FF's to the outside of the bar and the 500's to the center. i also plan to angle the 500's a little bit for better light around corners. its pretty much how mercedes and bmw have corner illumination. i tried it on another car and its amazing the difference it makes. the first couple times i went around corners with them on it freaked me out cause i almost thought another car was coming. Wow look at that! So... umm.. everytime you want to use them, you'll need to take off the lids manually? pretty much, but they help protect the lenses from getting chipped/broken from crap flying up just driving around normally. i also heard from someone that in california you are required to have the covers on while driving around town. the black covers also help make it look a little more stealth, but i must say i really like the look of them without the covers. |

looks good i wanted to do like the whole WRC clone with the molded piece on the bumper, and all that stuff but i deciede to go a different way. not only was it cheaper to go the way i did, but i noticed on cars that other people had with them, they get in the way of the viewing the road a bit. a guy i talk with at rallyx has a full rally prepped srt4 and he took off the light pod and hasn't put it back on for a while. it will come in handy for night runs, but he prefers not having it on in the day. this way it doesn't block my view, doesn't block airflow into the radiator, and allows me to have extra light when i want it and i can take off the whole assembly rather easily and quickly. |

i was contemplating having some type of flip out light system - i had an idea of 2 lights in each fener - front one flips out and aims front, 2nd one mounted closer to the top of the wheel well, aims more out to the side to provide all over lighting.
i hear ya about night driving on back roads with crappy lighting - and ive already got hid's in the projectors and the clear highs lol i dont care what anyone says, that is some awesome stuff -------------------- you know why they put sheep at the edge of a cliff.... that way they push back!

Hella. Nice!!!!!! I wanted Hella bulbs all around in my car, but I bought some of Griffgirl's HID's. Props to good taste in lighting! Just don't wreck your car in those canyons.

Hella. Nice!!!!!! I wanted Hella bulbs all around in my car, but I bought some of Griffgirl's HID's. Props to good taste in lighting! Just don't wreck your car in those canyons. sad thing is that my last car was totaled driving in regular socal traffic with morons. i drove the canyons for 2 years and the only thing that i damaged was my rear bumper, but thats what gave the car some character and how everyone in the srt4 community knew me. i always found that ironic how i drove the canyons, rallyx'ed the car, hell i even drove through yellowstone national park in 3" of snow on summer tires only to loose a car in traffic on a clear day. goes to show you that you're more likely to get in an accident driving around normally than driving in the canyons. i readjusted the lights tonight and changed the arangement. so far i like it, but i'll have to actually take it for a real test in the mountains. i really also want to get another set of the hid look bulbs, i like them much better than the regular white/yellow lights that came with the hella lights. |
