Not any painting expert, but I have helped paint a few cars and painted one myself. There's really not much you could do once the clear coat starts to peel. The only option you have is to re-spraythe clear. Get an estimate from a shop as to how much it would cost. If money is your issue and you need to save every last cent, then get an estimate for spray alone and wetsand it yourself. ALSO, if you're a beginner to wetsanding I would youtube or research how to wetsand properly. It's not just getting sandpaper with water and start rubbing down. There's certain techniques used to get a good sand down. Plus, if you're going to sand it down yourself, make sure not to cut into the turquoise paint as well. Meaning, don't sand too much that you sand past your turqouise color. Because that would mean you would have to respray the turquoise paint as well as the clear coat.

Just a heads up.. It's frowned upon to make a thread and bump it in the same day.

For the clear coat, pretty much all you can do is paint it again. You can go out and buy a bunch of stuff and get the rest of the paint to shine again like 2celicas2love just did, but it's not putting anything new on your car.

Well that's kind of stupid! $300 is kind of steep for just a hood spray! Even though they're re-painting the turquoise as well. But I'm guessing the paint shops doesn't want to re-spray just the clear because of warranty issues? If that's the case, I'd tell them to wetsand and clear and void the warranty. I bet it'll save you a lot of money!

Spraying clear on top of what's already there would never work. 1.) You'd be able to see right where all the bad stuff is, so it would look just as bad. 2.) The new coat of clear would peel off too. It's happening on my front bumper because whoever owned the car before me decided they were going to go cheap. The bumper looked bad when I bought it, and it looks a lot worse now. Trust me, you're better off just to pay the $300 and get all new paint and everything. It'll look tons better in the end anyway.
