finally got around to work on the 5sfe..

dropped the panels and found a couple of the tranny side pan flange bolts loose, so I tightened those down and checked the engine side.

after a bit of checking tightness and poking around, started up the car and noticed a steady stream coming down in or next to the timing belt cover...

I haven't checked in a manual yet on how that area is all setup, but i'm guessing i'll have to order a lower engine gasket set and just change everything out that I can get to without pulling the engine.

It could be the crank pulley seal or maybe the oil pump seal??

everything is covered in oil underneath heh...
