Kyle,
The postcounts were removed for the time being because of the abundant post whoring that has been going on recently. It seems as though a few people on the boards think that they are their postcounts. Whoring has even overflowed into the main forums, such as the general, interior, and etc forums in the form of mindless posts, and "(+1)" posts. Seeing as how the postcounts are no longer visible, in either the forums, or in the profiles, there is no reason to whore anymore, unless you are in OT and are just chit-chatting in a thread, or something of the like. As soon as people stop the mindlessness, and realize that they are not their postcounts, the tallys may return soon, but until then, all you will have to go by is the ratings on the left. Don't think we're being nazi's, we're not. We're just testing some things to make this board a little more appealing to the lurkers and to the new-comers. If you wanna know how this helps, before you ask, i'll tell you. The less uselessness in the non-OT boards, the better, as people browsing will be more interested in joining, and asking questions w/o thinkin they're wasting their time. -John- -------------------- |

Due to the increased "post whoring" lately in the non-off-topic forums, I've removed the display of the post counts. Posts that consist of only things such as "(+1)" that aren't in Off-Topic don't benefit the site at all, and by removing the display of the post counts, I feel that it will stop or at least slow down the problem.
If the pointless posts in the Celica discussion forums stop, chances are that the moderators and I will choose to display post counts again. Also, not having post counts can be a good thing, as post counts don't reflect how much someone knows about the sixth generation Celica. Take Kuya(Ray) for example. He doesn't have as many posts as me, but he knows a whole lot more about the sixth generation Celica than I do. Also, there are many impressive and successful forums that do not visibly display post counts, such as Sitepoint Forums and many others. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

Smooth move coomer, I noticed that craze myself and it had started to discourage me from posting in alot of the forums. I would rather the counts didn't return. 6gc was starting to look more like a big version of yahoo messenger rather than a community based on a common interest. I just hope this leads to more tech based discussions and less chat room threads.

What is with all these pointless "I'm with stupid" posts lately? They don't contribute to the thread at all. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

I've got no problem with them being gone, I don't consider myself a whore or a newbie by the number of my posts, I think its 700 and something, but I'm not sure, anyway, the blocks are fine.
but I was wondering if we could get those little names under our screen name like over at celica.net, I think that would be sweet. Just a friendly suggestion. oh, and I love the fact that the biggest whore here gets caught with the im with stupid post, in a thread about no more whoring --------------------
