It is a mess to go through which is why i said when i have a little spare time id go through, see who is active, etc etc etc.... I dunno any other really good locations for meets in central fl, this is tourist area, congested, crowded, minimal parking space. I am still continuing to look though! -------------------- ◊◊◊ My F/S Thread! ◊◊◊

wekiwa springs

And we're definitely getting this guy to come! oh there is a "road course" here, central FL road course, Probably expensive though, im emailing them right now to see what they would charge to chill there for the day, maybe get a few laps in? That would be awesome...if it's not too expensive. I've never been on a track. Wouldn't we need permits, helmets, etc., though? -------------------- '97 ST \ Eibach \ KYB \ Kenwood \ Alpine \ Cusco \ OEM+ [sold 10/18]

Alright, I just PM'd some people that were recently active. Photoguy1313, Akimbo, BlazedInMyCeli, diegohiga.
Samir, do you also know a public road good for cruising? There's really nothing but straights and highway down here. Nothing real scenic either, besides HWY 1 down to Key West. I said john u lloyd park was sweet, but far for our northern members. Would take them quite a few hours. A beach is a beach anyway though.. lol
Here ferdi! cruise route. S Binion rd/avalon rd One of my absolute favorite routes, it is very rural, 2 lane, runs from apopka, near the wekiwa w/e place, and runs down to 192 into tourist district. It is a bunch of farms/plant nurseries. AMAZING drive, curvy and straight and just great for a cruise. Sounds like a winner...I'm down for that. We could start the meet there or else chill first close to there, since it's not far from I4 and I would be coming from there.
I just mapquested from my house to Apopka, the ending location for the run...and it gave me the exact route you wanted to take for the cruise! So I say we start the meet there. 222 miles and 3 hours and 38 minutes for me, not bad. I'll see what shortest distance says...doesn't I-75 move quicker though?
Anyway, can future posters here please review Samir's post and agree on that location for at least the cruise? I suppose Wekiwa springs is too far away then for a chill spot after. I criss crossed this state backwards and forwards. Driving coast to coast routes can mean less miles to drive but one must also consider things like proximity to nearest gas station or a town. Aside from that... its miles and miles and miles of nothing there. I hit 140 there a few times with an average speed of 110. Tried to cut down my travel time to west palm beach where I go diving.. its fun in the daytime.. at night... spooky.. scary and all you see is avon park bombing range explosions and tons of lightning as you get closer to east coast. And then of course you see sunrise.. pitch black behind you and near daylight in front of you.

I suppose Wekiwa springs is too far away then for a chill spot after. mostly 60-65mph on 17. there are only a few slow towns, arcadia, wauchula, bowling green, ft meade, and bartow, a few more here and there in between where the speed drops to 35ish, and the cops DO wait for you to roll in doing 45. But overall, the amount of miles saved still saves over an hour and a half id say of driving i75, even with the slowdowns. Yarik i think you've confused your us17 and us27??? avon pk is on 27 and on the way to wpb/ft lauderdale. I do take 27 but 17 is similar in appearance. I drive on it every now and then. Basically what I meant to say is that in middle of Florida there are lands of nothingness where you can just go. Forget about traffic and traffic lights and just go.
But then of course you have to keep an eye out for panther crossing signs, countless alligator crossing zones and occasional cows that wonder outside of their pasture areas. I like it.. except it makes me sleepy and that is why I cant drive there without music blasting away. -------------------- Captain Pessimist
