When I had my old celica 400 miles was normal (but I was driving on highway mostly)
With my 3s swap I get 250-280 depending on how much I am stuck in traffic -------------------- Captain Pessimist

Wow, you guys must drive a LOT harder than I do. I'm rocking a 5-speed 5S and I can do 500 miles on a tank.

gas mileage depends of several things. Tires, road condition, weight, driving style, weather, traffic. Driving on a highway you should get about 34mpg on an st model with 13 gallon tank give or take a few drops and should come out to 442 miles if driven at same speed etc etc. Driving a 3s mpg should drop. I get about 15/19mpg give or take.

Honestly the only way I could possibly see getting 500 to the tank out of a 5s (which I have) is going on a 500 mile trip driving 20-25 mph. I usually fill up when my fuel light first comes on which is for the most part around 340 miles. I do have a lead foot from time to time but I do 95% highway driving and the lead foot is only active on ramps getting onto and off of the highway. When I fill up I'm usually getting around 28-29 mpg. |

I get around 400 when I hit the reserve fuel. -------------------- '97 ST \ Eibach \ KYB \ Kenwood \ Alpine \ Cusco \ OEM+ [sold 10/18]

In my 94 GT4 I get about 500km on 61l of fuel. I do lay in to it from time to time and have a turbo timer that runs 3min after driving.

I think that when people do any kind of performance upgrades they are fully aware that gas efficient vehicles will start becoming gas guzzlers. Like in my case. Yes it gives me less miles per gallon but heck there is not a day in the calendar when I stepped out of my car with a big grin on my face. If I am not mistaken for every additional horse power you lose about 1 mile worth of drivable distance.

I do have a lead foot from time to time but I do 95% highway driving and the lead foot is only active on ramps getting onto and off of the highway. When I fill up I'm usually getting around 28-29 mpg. First of all, I don't understand how you think you're going to get great gas mileage at 25 mph. Yeah, you won't be using as much fuel, but you're getting nowhere in a hurry. Maybe 60 isn't the best for fuel economy, but 25 sure isn't either. I should specify that when I said 500 I didn't mean I can go every bit of 500 miles. I was rounding up. It's between 450-500, and that's assuming there's a gas station right at that point when I run out of gas because I'm definitely not going any further. I'm using math and assuming that's what it would do, if I actually ran it that low. The GT 5-speed was rated to get 28 mpg on the highway, and when you multiply that by 15.9 gallons you can go 445.2 miles. I drive all highway miles and 28 is the lowest I get. I'm usually getting 30 (doing the math, that's 477 miles) and there have been 2 tanks of gas where I have gotten 35 mpg. That's in 3 years, so it's by no means an everyday thing. But needless to say, I baby the crap out of my car. I know it isn't fast, and I know you look like a douche when you race a slow car out of every stoplight. My driving style is shifting between 2k and 3k every time. I also never have to get on the interstate like you said you do, so I get that little extra bit over you. gas mileage depends of several things. You raised a very valid point, which applies to my point. I've got ridiculously cheap tires on the car, no traction at all. I couldn't get above 29 mpg before I had them, and now that you mention it, I have been getting slightly better fuel economy with them. I don't think it's worth it though. It's downright dangerous to drive in the rain with these. I stopped counting gas mileage the moment I figured that I have to refuel once per week regardless. I have, however learned to make best of the mileage that I can get. I stopped making pointless trips for one thing to a store that is 12 miles round trip for example. I usually plan ahead and make a circle to 5-6 stores along the way. That gave me extra 30 miles per week. But like I said before gas mileage and sport cars do not mix. On the other hands I do not appreciate when people are driving like grand ma's. I only wish that there was a mandatory "capability" test for drivers every few months. Drive 10 miles under the speed limit? License revoked. Drive in a straight line slowing down and speeding up for no particular reason-license revoked. Drive like a duche and not paying any attention to the road? License revoked. That way people like me could actually get somewhere on time.

I'm not surprised that the first tank was the 2nd lowest number. Good man.

Oh geez,
That's depressing.... I'm lucky to get 280 off of a full tank, but then again I drive like a bat out of hell everywhere I go (I'll only live for so long, what's the point of waiting all the time). I guess the hope is that now that the bike is running, my mileage will go up... -TC -------------------- Live your life for yourself. Don't hold back for anything or anyone.

I get about 320miles out of mine (7a-FE) on average
I filled it at 355 which was a personal best, but did a big road trip last week which meant a lot of motorway driving. Although I my fuel flap release thingy is coming loose, really struggled to open it today (an hour of messing to get it open) this happen to anyone else? guessing i need to take the carpet up in the driver side footwell and have a look. |
