salt eats the finish, and 90% of tires used on a decent set of wheels handle like ASS in snow.

the chemicals they spray on the road around here can't be good on wheels either. My wheels are coming off soon, it has snowed here twice already.

Also, wide tires arent good in the winter. Potholes and cracks are dangerous for low profile tires too.

the tires on my steel wheels are "snow tires" they look like they are for offroading and hum like crazy but they are great in the snow

most people that have custom wheels.. don't or wont get the right tires for winter.. maybe cause they are to expensive or whatever.. so it's just esaier to put the stock wheels with the all season tires on.. a hell of a lot better traction on snow and black ice then performance tires which are made for summer driving.

The real reason is like K2 said;"salt eats the finish" and you need to repaint or sable it again and again..

Yea,that is the thing. IT never snows in Tennessee. Although....it couldn't hurt to switch the wheels out.

Or if you cant switch your wheels/store your car...just wash it once a week. Yes, even in winter.

I was aware of the whole snow thing but we don't get it where I live so I haven't experienced driving around in it
Sadly I live right next to the beach so I get loads of salt all over my car, I'd move but it is soo cool where I live in summer (women everywhere) |

Taking the car off the road during the winter isn't an option here. But....how can you wash your car in the winter without freezing your hands off? All you guys saying that you take the cars off the road live in Michigan and South Dakota. I guess I will put my stock rims on,as sad as that may be.........
