hey guys, i have a catback exhaust from dolcek racing but i havent put it on yet. up until now, i have been running turbo'ed with the stock exhaust setup and its really about time that i got off my ass and finished it up.
i really like the look of this exhaust setup   for those of you that are not familiar with the DR catback, it is a magnaflow muffler that bolts to the cat and dumps down to the ground a little infront of the rear suspension. i put it on once, and i liked the sound but i got REALLY used to only hearing the turbo on my car and i like it that way. so i figured if i piped it out the back it would get quiter and seeing those pics made me want a dual tip setup. i know it wont do much for performance when compaired to a one tip setup, but i think the look along is worth the extra money it will cost to have it done. -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

I still haven't figured out why people don't like the dual setup its just pure pimp, I think u should go for it.

I'm not a fan of dual exhaust. It has too many bends as it is.
I preffer one exhaust and a straight through pipe. But that's just me. Everyone has different tastes. |

You have to cut out part of you spare tire well. its no to hard but I would suggest getting some sheet metal and pop riviting it over the hole and then seal it with some caulk. You might also have to modifly the rear bumper support to keep the exhuast at the same height... to do this just dremel it out and repaint it.. took me like 20 mins to do that part. you might not have to do this with the stock rear airdam but I had to with my invader rear. --------------------  99 project version 3.0.. hello SEMA 2010 =) |

I voted no.. This is just personal opinion obviously but I don't think it's a good idea.
Looks wise: The back of our cars stock has no overlap so I'd only go for them if you have a lip kit on. Performance wise: I think twins on small engines almost can be classified as rice. I mean a REAL double system is designed for big engines where you have 2 headers and twin piping / cat / resonator / mufflers all the way to the back. I guess it is OK to do if you make sure everything is symmetrical - ie. split the main pipe then run two equal lengths to two of the same muffler but once you start running extra pipes that are longer than the main system etc you start getting an unbalanced system! Like one side will flow more air therefor one side will sound louder etc. I probably making too big a deal about it but I get pissed off seeing all the civics / crx's / daihatsu's around here that have massive dual mufflers poking out the back with only 100 hp behind them

I voted no for similar reason to kamixZR. I see too many civics and that dualed and it just doesn't seem natural for the 4 banger, its more an 8 thing to do. I especially see way too many dualed out V6 camaros and mustangs and that just sounds like crap. Anyways, I think 4 cylinder cars should stick to the single exit exaust, but that's just my opinion.

i already have a DR catback that is a muffler attached to the cat and dump to the ground after the muffler http://www.evilspeed.com/catback.htm i was thinking of piping it out the back though KamixZR i understand that it will do nothing performance wise, although at the moment, any exhaust will be leaps and bounds better than my stock exhaust with the turbo setup. i dont want to have two mufflers in the back of the car becuase i hate that look. i just want two tips purely for the symmetric look. also, my tips/piping wouldnt be as big as in the pictures i gave as an example. thanks guys, keep the opinions comming This post has been edited by 97sccelica: Nov 1, 2003 - 3:27 AM -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

I had dual exhaust on my car at one point, and I didn't have to cut into the spare tire well or anything. I got sick of it after a little while and personally thought that it was kind of ricey, so I switched over to a single muffler setup, and I like that a whole lot more than what I used to have. The looks, sound, and performance are much better in my opinion.
About the looks though, it's really a matter of opinion. I really like my current exhaust setup a lot more, but a lot of my friends really liked the dual exhaust setup more. You can look at the pics below and decide for yourselves though.

It's a 5Zigen Fireball muffler(I think) that I got from a long time ago. It's pretty nice, except that it rattles sometimes at high RPMs, and then it sounds really bad when that happens. I've got a new muffler that is going on my car as soon as the swap is done, and then I'm giving this one to my friend. He's a bigtime ricer and actually likes the buzzing rattling sound because it's loud, and he wants his car to sound like that.
