Now I'm no expert on this, but I believe that the higher in octane your fuel is (an extra row of hydrocarbons) the higher compression can be run before the fuel will detonate (knocking). So the octane level you need is directly proportionate to the compression level in your engine.

Personally I'd run the highest I could find if I has a 3s under my bonnet, but I know in Sugar Land (ahaha USA I guess) you have a harder time finding high quality fuels.

I know the premium levels in Europe are around 95. I think the USA would be similar to that. Over here we have 98+ fuel. So basically run premium unleaded (like bp ultimate or shell optimax). Both of those are 98's.

Japan runs a different octane equation, so its not like u can directly compare, however J-Spec engines were designed to run on a higher octane. Consequently whatever u run here will be a lil lower but it will still run fine. I would run nothing lower than 93 and if I ever pass by a Sunoco i always get 94. Of course in CA i think 93 is something of a rareity.

Yeah Suh-No-co...we have a few. Eh...most places around here have 91 or 92...except for Holiday gas stations which have 93. Also, we have one Amoco that has 98...but I can't find it. Everyone tries to tell me where it is, but I can't find it.
