So I hit up the junkyard last week hoping to find something (nothing particular, just goin' for fun). To my surprise they had 2 6th gen celi's still in-tact. One was a convertible, other was a hatch. The convertible really didn't have much (all stock, nothing I needed) so I went over to the hatch and picked up some new door panels. It had the panels with the two speakers plus the tweeter where the mirror is at. Picked them up for $25 a piece (see pics below).
I also took the stock speaker and tweeters. The stock speakers have a weird bracket that lines up perfect with the door. My door had stickers on them covering the holes. The speakers however are blown, torn, and in really bad shape. Tweeters look ok but i'm still unsure if they work or not. So my question is to anyone who has swapped out the smaller speakers in their doors or has an idea of what I can do. I had a couple of ideas, haven't thought them out to much yet but lemme know what you guys think - 1.) Make my own brackets to go from door to speaker 2.) Mount speakers to the panel directly 3.) Use the stock mount, cut the old speaker out and mount a new one in Was also going to see if anyone had advise as far as wiring goes. I have a 4 channel amp and I ran speaker wire from the harness in the dash to the rear of the car where the amp is at. So my two 6.5" speakers I already have are plugged in using the stock wiring at the door. Any idea's as far as wiring the tweeter and smaller speakers go? Also, anyone know what size they are? I'm thinkin like 3-4". -------------------- |

Since my GT4 only had the 1 door speaker (your lower speaker) I changed it with a 6 1/2 inch speaker (had to make a custom bracket)and put a tweater in the cover covering the mirror bolts. it sounds great. I also coverd the door in sound deadner and put some on the inside of the door shell. If I could find the door panels with the upgrated speaker system that you found I would put a 8' sub in the lower spot a 4" in the middle and tweeter in the mirror cover and run an amp to it all and it would sound sick as hell. What ever you decide to do mount every thing to the door its self not to the panel, it will seal better and sound better. I will try to find some pics of my install.
