My wife and me are planing a week-end to Manhattan in the 2nd week-end of january, and we would like to have suggestions about restaurants, hotels, pubs, things to see and spots to avoid.

Right now we think about sleeping in an hotel in New Jersey and visit and shopping in Manhattan, see ground zero, Empire state building, Broadway, Time Square, etc.. wich are pretty cliché but is there any things less known but still must see?

Thanx for your suggestions

stay in New jersey, go to New Jersey malls as we pay less taxes so things are slightly cheaper. take the ferri from liberty park in Jersey city to the statue of liberty and ellis island.

I'm not to savy about NYC some other members will recommend places to visit, but I love a club call pacha

Yeah PACHA NYC is the best. I go there all the time with my wife to see the headliners. We're gonna be going there in Dec to see Fedde le grand. As for going to NJ. I'd say NYC is better haha. As long as you got the cash stay in the big apple. Its worth it. Just my opinion. I mean i grew up in the city so im going to endorse coming here either way.

When me and my significant other go to the city we like to walk across the "Brooklyn bridge" take walks in Battery Park city after the sun goes down. As mentioned above go to "Pacha NYC" when there is a good DJ spinning. Central Park is also an option. Go to "Little Italy" for food and go to China town for some cool fireworks hehe, J/K. There are tons pf clubs and places to go. Or you can just walk around. Seeing though it's probably gonna be freezing cause of the time you plan on going. You might want to go somewhere indoors. I wouldn't go to the Ellis Island only cause it's freaking cold at that time. You can go to Rockefeller Center to see the xmas tree. Times square since now they have the pedestrian walking rules there now.

It was priceless.

I saw that place on the Travel Channel, I want that burger so badly. MMMM.

I'm very jealous of your trip though, I went summer of 2007 and it's a gorgeous city. I'd love to live there. It's extremely culturally varied and I love that, the architecture's interesting, and the whole city just seems to be...alive. I highly recommend Ellis Island though (I'm a history buff), definitely Little Italy for the food like somebody mentioned, Rockefeller Plaza and the WTC site, the Empire State Building is always good to see. United Nations was very interesting for me. Statue of Liberty is a must (the torch is reopened!).

I'm not sure how much you'll get out of it in a weekend, but my mom bought this booklet (forgot the name) that was a guide to NYC, but also contained a lot of coupons and special-access tickets. For example, we were able to skip the line for the simulated NYC tour in the Empire State Building and get into a VIP line for the elevators to the top as well. I think the book was $40, at the most.
