Hi all from the UK,

New to this forum but as I got a lovely (not) greeting from your admin team don't think I'll be here long. Anyway, great lover of the gen 6 and currently building a ST205 rally car for stage rallying in the UK which I was going to put the build thread up in your project cars as is on other Celica forums with a lot of interest. I won't post until an apology has been received though!!!

To shed some light, I joined yesterday and posted a FS thread and link to Ebay as I have some items on there and ending today so I wanted to give everyone the chance to see, I looked at the thread today and read the message from the mods or admin team "DON'T JOIN AND POST YOUR EBAY LINKS"

Now if that's a warm welcome then I don't know what a cold one is!!! I read the rules for posting and I haven't broken any rules or guidelines by doing so, it just so happened that was my first post.

Rant over.

Kev

Welcome, and please reconsider. This is a one stop place for 6gc. I've had my fun with members, and admins over the years but one instance shouldn't ruin a resourceful environment. Or...just creep like most people do =P - Somes skin is not thick enough for the iwebs posting biggrin.gif

All in all, if you were possibly a member with some time under the belt it would have been looked over, or atleast some description of the item for sale instead of looking like you don't want to contribute to this site and simply come here to sell items. This is a community, not ebay. We have a FS forum for the convenience of members. Notice the reputation acquisition under the users name.

Not an admin, just a member of the community here =P

Yeah... If you had posted an introduction thread like this AND THEN posted your items for sale it likely wouldn't have been an issue.

Hi Rave,

Thanks for the kind words and I fully understand that forums are communities and not ebay sales, but, to have people and enthusiasts into a community you have to offer open arms and welcoming words. I've been a member of forums for years and years and always been welcomed for my experience in motorsport and advice. If the mods/admin don't want people to link sales straight away then they need to do as other forums do and state that in their posting rules not offend new members with their first message, doesn't go down well.

Welcome to the forums, Kev. I for one would like to see your rally build. smile.gif Although I see your point of view, I also see the moderator's point of view. It would appear as though you had joined for nothing more than the sake of selling parts, and that is frowned upon in every forum I've been on. Most forums will not even let you view the buying/selling section for the first thirty days and certain number of posts. In addition to this, it's also frowned upon to post links to eBay listings, as opposed to actually making a listing here. These rules seem to be pretty constant through all the forums I've been on, so I would give it one more try, go ahead and start the progress thread, and start a FS thread selling your parts through 6gc, instead of giving links to eBay. Hopefully you stick around for a while. smile.gif

Hi 95celica and richee,

Yes understand the point of sale links but there is a nicer way of pointing it out to new members instead of a blunt offensive message that doesn't really give you that warm welcome kindasad.gif . Anyway, sounds like the members so far on here are friendly enough laugh.gif

We try to be a fairly nice group lol
The mods are nice too but when they're doing there job they tend to be alil blunt an straight to the point
I would state why it happen but there's no point since it was already said above.
But I'm with richee3 I wanna see your rally car smile.gif

Meh, it's not like you were having people send you a check or PayPal payment. I don't see the wrong in posting links to eBay. The mods can be uptight at times, but like others said it's just to try and keep things orderly. Any who, welcome! Should upload some pictures of your car.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience, this place is not a newbie to the site friendly. You will get flammed on creating new threads that have been covered already and point you to the stickies sarcastically laugh.gif

I don't understand what could go wrong with creating a FS thread as a first post. I don't see you violating any forum rules. You are not advertising anything unrelated to 6gc.

Welcome to 6gc.
You'll find that alot of the members and moderators are quite kind people but they can be extremely blunt. I see both sides as i was a new guy here a few years ago and it seems that posting an intro helps very much to break the ice. That and the fans like tons of photos in not only your profile but a project thread as well. Although i can't say much cuz over a few years i still dont have a project thread. laugh.gif

The main problem is the possibility that you are a bot or just some trying to sell something and never contribute to the community. So imho i themnk the admin had every right to 'scold' you. Don't let it get to you, most of us are pretty chill.

I wouldn't mind an eBay seller posting their 6gc related parts in the FS/FT forum. Would help us a lot instead of searching on eBay all the time. Lol.

As are the mods but they DO have a job to do and they def do it well IMO [Tho I have been on the receiving end of a "scolding" and I CAN sympathize - let it go. This place is AMAZING and has helped a lot of us get to heights we wouldn't have been capable of otherwise. It is totally worthwhile being a member here wink.gif ]
