misfiring is also a good diagnosis... you would get more of a smell of gas though as some of the fuel isn't burning... check your plugs, wires and dizzy also.... this is sounding like a simple problem to fix, just finding it

***Update*** 12/14/09

Turned out to be one of my 4 cylinders was not firing so I was running only on 3. Really thought it was a clogged cat but guess not. Hopefully should have her working by tomorrow. So basically it's a misfire.

what did you do, pull spark plug wires? did you change the plugs? how did you fix this?

Yup. It was a bad wire. So I just changed all of them & got new spark plugs too.
Thanks everyone for the help. I really have spent A LOT of money within the last year just on repairs alone. I really want to keep
her it's just there always seems to be something going wrong. I mean yeah she has 173k so maybe its expected for these things to be replaced. Just hope nothing else goes wrong until my tax returns come in.
