Was taking out presents out my trunk when I got a strong whiff of GAS. Looked under the car and didn't see much. Until I got the flash light. Saw the gas leaking from the pipe that runs from the port to the tank. The pipe looks heavily rusted. How much is it to fix? Or is it a easy fix for a novice like me? The leak is pretty steady with about 2 to 3 drops at the same time every 6 seconds. Doesn't help my drive way is on a ****ing hill.

Any ideas? kindasad.gif

it depends on how comfortable working under the car with a pipe flaring tools.

If you know how to use a fuel line flaring tool you can easily splice in a new fuel line and cut out the rusted part.

all the tools are available through autozone free loan a too program. you can buy fuel line and fittings there also.

fuel line or filler neck? the little lines or the big tube that you put the gas nozzle into?

im building a return line for my 7th gen and used 1/4 aluminium tube and some AN fittings. the flaring process is not too hard at all.

It seems like it's coming from the gas tube (bigger one). When the two lines from the port come down behind the rear driver's side wheel it passes the mount that holds the two tight against the spare tire housing. Then there is a piece of metal on the top of the two lines that hold them next to each other. Looks like the rust ate through that part. I poured some dry gas in through the nozzle port cause it smells like alcohol so I can see where exactly the small leak is coming from by feeling around and finding the smell. It's certainly coming from the top where that metal piece that's welded on top of both lines to hold them next to each other.

so its the filler neck? not the fuel lines that carry fuel to the engine under the car? you'd replace the filler neck, it should come with both lines. the smaller one is to let air out when you're pumping gas.
