Okay so heres the story, i just bought/ordered 4 new speakers for my car, and i thought everything would be fine, because i've used this shop to order about 10 times, just a local shop in my home town , but he's never failed me...

long story short he got me 4 6.5" speakers, but all 4 have the 6.5" mounting brackets, anyone have any advice as to how i can install the 2 that have to go in the front being as they have 8" brackets on the stock doors? thanks much.

yeah its listed as 6.5" speakers cause they are 6.5" speakers in there... a lot of guys cut their 8" to use the bracket or they make 6.5 inch to 8 inch adapters out of plastic

I bought two brackets on ebay, from a company that makes them for any make and model. I haven't been able to find them since, but you can try.

He's done em. I've done em. Alex did em.

i started a thread about this also...i am still confused. i cant seem to get a straight answer. what it sounds like to me is the front doors have 8in holes with 6.5 inch speakers in them...i am just going to get 4 6.5 in speakers and go from there, whether or not i need brackets is yet to be determined. if the factory speakers are 6.5 in an 8in hole, seems like you could just hook up new speakers the same, but maybe i'm wrong. who knows

I bought adapters on eBay. They're made of plastic.

they are 6.5 inch speakers in an 8" hole... wow... only the 8 speaker systems had 8" speakers... the size of a speaker is measured by the cone, not the metal on the outside... there is an additional 1.5" of metal on the front speakers to fill the gap... they are 6.5" speakers, not 8".... they can be replaced with 8" speakers (these will be woofers, or sub woofers - not a good idea) or 6.5" speakers with custom brackets made from the original speakers or plastic... end
