Wheel fitment, new rim size ok? Options

ok.. ALOT of questions on this one sorry im annoying like that. so i dont really understand much about Wheel fitment. i'm planning on doing 2 rims set for the car, meaning one set for the front, a different set in the back. first question is would this be ok to do? and im planning on buying a couple of 5zigen fireball rims. they're 17x7 with a 5x114.3 // 5x100 bolt pattern with a +42 SS offset.. i dont really get what the SS is . i was wondering if this was an ok size, like would it be sticking out too much or will it be indented too much. from my understanding possitive offset makes it stick out more? now for the second and third question.. will i need to change my brake system if i change thw wheel size from 14" to 17"? and what tire size is ideal for this rim (205/50/17 etc.) Dont know if this set will go to rear or front yet (given that it's ok to do a 2 rim set on the car) anywho that's it for now >.> i feel like i typed forever sorry if it's long.. all input is much appreciated thanks

Wheel size is good but offset will take it into the arches. You should go for a ofset that is more like +35 as this will bring the wheels closer to the arches. Eighter offset should not give you brake interference.

what do you mean by "into the arches"? like it would go inwards?

17x7 +42 will be sunk in a bit in the front and a LOT in the back. The higher the offset, the more sunk in it will be. Use the wonderful search function this site has to find the wheel offset thread by Harold_Fastwaker and it will tell you what offset you should be running.

I suppose what you're talking about doing is called "staggered" wheel fitment, so you want a 17x7 in front and 17x8 in the rear. I would say 215/45R-17 front and 235/45R-17 in the rear.

For your brakes, nothing needs to be changed.

Tire size - many people on here do a 225/45R-17 all around on a standard non-staggered wheel setup. 40R is not enough sidewall, and 50 is to much.
