My car has a very loud rattling sound when i step on the breaks, it sounds as if its coming out from under the hood. It also has a very tense vibration to it when its in idle.

I was told a simple tune up would fix the vibration and a whole new break system would fix the rattling. well i got a new break system and my car was tuned up some where close to about a year ago and the problem still exist and seems to be getting worse.

I was just wondering if anyone would know what it could be and if its going to be a simple cheap fix? Any advice would help.

Thanks

Hard to know without hearing it, but definitely do a tune up! Your car will thank you for it.

The rattling could be anything from something under your hood being loose, like your heat shield, to something suspension related. Where exactly does it sound like the noise is originating?

I've had it toned about a year ago if that and it didn't seem to help the vibration at all...

The rattling i don't know, it tends to happen when I've been driving over 10 mins or so, and i really cant tell from inside the car, and it doesnt do that when in idle. When i got a whole new break system it was due to my steering wheel moving back and fourth when i stepped on the breaks, which was the rotters going being old and warn out. I'm not having those same signs here.
