Just wondering how much i should try to save up if i want to swap a 3sgte and convert auto st to manual, im just thinking what would be better, do the swap on my car, or keep an eye on a swapped one for sale on this site. considering i would want to redo the front end to a GT4 and it i got an estimate on body work and factory quality paint and thats 15 hundred more.

depends on what gen you get a 2nd gen 3s goes for $1000-1500. 3rd gen $1500ish. you could buy a clip with the engine and body parts. look at spending $5000... search the site!

your looking At 2500 for the clip (talk to Jim)
about 1000 for the gt-4 conversion
and then your Paint....
Your getting close to 5000-5500.....

Could possibly find cheaper if you find good deals!:)

i dont know who in your area would be competent enough to do a swap, (unless its somebody on here) BUT i would save about 5500-6000 for a complete swap if you want to go that route. OR if interested in someone here selling their swapped car i would say save 8k or so. it all depends on what motor do you want? have u decided on what tranny? etc etc....

^^^ Thats the ballpark for saving for a 3rd gen 3s swap alone if u want to build it right your looking at around $5-6k and thats by doing the swap yourself. I have my own list of whats needed so thats my estimate with a e153 tranny or a rebuild s54 w/LSD and all. Parts and stuff adds up fast lol.

to be honest, you might not want to buy one thats swapped already for a couple reasons including u dont know what shape the motor is really in... also, it will be REAL hard to get a full running swapped celi for the same price as getting it swapped in by somebody or doin it yourself

Whether you are buying a used celica or a used 3sgte there is same type of risk involved in purchasing a dud. Difference between an engine clip and a whole car is that one lets you build a gt-4 look while a while car was probably designed differently.
Regardless of what you chose do keep in mind that conservative people usually end up paying twice. There are always parts missing or shops unwilling to do the swap or you do it yourself and mess something up etc etc. Buying from a member has it challenges but could be a better deal especially if you decide to buy from a long term respected member.
