I think there might be something wrong with my car. It starts up a bit soft and idles around .75 RMP. Last I checked, I was 1.5 RPMs in idle and my start was much stronger.

Let me know if I'm just going nuts. Everyonce in a while it will idle at 1.5, but then soon dips back. It's gone as low as .50 RMP.

Thanks.

I'm tempted to say that GT's idle higher. I'm at around 800, however, mine also tends to vary sometimes, especially under a lot of electrical load.

my gt idles at .75_.9 at idle on a cold start.. sometimes it like bogs down for like a slpit secomd to like .45 then it kicks right back to .75_.9 .... i think it does that bc messed around w the throttle cable over the summer to try wat i thought would get a better throttle response for racing ... i found out that the throttly sometimes sticks and revs at 2500 at a redlight lol ... idk if youve messed around w ur cable but that could b it

So I should be fine where I'm at? I just want to make sure I don't need to make an appointment for it to be looked at. I swear it idled higher, but maybe I'm nuts.

When the car is warmed up it should be close to 900 RPM. Just shy of 1k.

All regular Celicas I've seen tend start at around 1500 - 2000 when cold and come down to 900 when they warm up.

My GT4 though only fast idles at 1100RPM before coming down to 900.

If that's too low, what's the magic number then?

I mean, how do you know if you have a problem or not. My car isn't stuttering or idleing rough, but at the same time, it's not like it was a month ago.

well thats just it, it could be idling fine at 500, but it could be hurting your performance or fuel eco because its so low, lean/rich mixture, or an iac issue. My 5s-fe only had 15,000kms on it and if i let it sit on the 500 rpm line for more than 30 seconds or so, it slowly died

Would you take it in to be looked at if it usually was around 1000 RPMs but now is 5-700? And that's in cold and heat. Seriously, when I start the car, it sounds week.. it doesn't make the h h h humMMMmmmm sound when starting up now. It's just h h h hhmm with a low dip in the middle of the hhmm.

Btw, this all changed the day the new battery terminals were installed. They are not corroded though, or melting off like my old cheap ones from auto zone. The dealer put these ones on (they're stock), because I was tired of facing issues with 3rd party ones.

In cold my celica starts with a high rev to 2000 (for a millisecond) then it idles at 1000. Once warm it's between 750~500.

Dunno but that's what it does...

Well today was much better. She idled cold at 1.5 and idled consistently at .9

Maybe she was just having an off week.
