Well I was closing my garage today and heard a loud bang!
the spring broke, and it will be a week before it gets fixed, which means i cannot continue work in the car, because i need to wash the bay under pressure and cant do it inside, so baaaaaad luck, gladly it happened while nobody near, cause the door just slammed on the floor!!!! im renting the house, so i will not pay a penny for it... -------------------- Learned a lot in 10 years... that happened to me once. the door did the same thing, just slammed down. You can still disconnect the door from the motor shaft and open it manually if necessary... sorry to hear about that though! Glad nobody got hurt, that can leave a mark...

Right, because who really cares if you get hurt or not. Nothing says "hero" more than one to risk bodily harm to save a Toyota.

You can't lift the garage door? The motor at my house was broken for a long time, I had to lift the door up, and it's just a regular aluminum two-car garage car.

well, yes, if the action spring is ok, it helps to lift and actually easy. The spring snapped, and the cables went haywire, so its just a 10 by 8 sheet of metal. so its really heavy, no kidding.

This happened to me a long time ago. At my parents my bedroom was above the garage, and one day there was this huge boom. Garage spring snapped in half, just randomly.
