Caliper gen 5, GT4 Calipers Options

I was wondering can gen 5 GT4 calipers fit on my 95 gt??? Also what pads do i buy for it????Trying to look around for the thread can't find it???

Are the st202 calipers not better than the st185 anyway?

5th G GT4 calipers will fit the ST202. I've done it.
The GT4 pad is larger than the ST202 pad, so more friction area, discs are 4mm larger - so hardly any difference. You may be able to use the ST185 caliper with the ST202 disc, I did not try. I've used the ST185 disc, had to bore out the centre hole to fit. The caliper needs to have a 1mm large washer to centre the caliper to the disc. Also the ST185 pad is available in Red Stuff and Yellow Stuff.

There is one primary issue of compatibility when it comes to using fifth-gen parts on sixth-gen vehicles: the centrebore.

For some reason, the fifth-gen used a 54 mm centrebore but the sixth-gen used a 55 mm centrebore. This means that you either have to shave the fifth-gen rotors -- and risk a hub-centric design getting an out-of-round centrebore -- or swap the hubs on your sixth-gen to fifth-gen hubs. Mounting fifth-gen rotors on sixth-gen hubs almost works, but not quite.

I got to read, IIRC, Coomer's thread about cracking rotors when he attempted it with the Yelli Celli.

This is interesting... I had a machine shop do our rotors.... Are the ST165 / ST185 Rotors / Calipers compatible ..... because this would make some sense..... since we ordered ST165 Calipers from Brake Warehouse for the race car and received single pot calipers and rotors that didn't fit (Centerbore).... I have pretty good faith in a proper machine shop keeping the centerbore... center we have not seen any problems at all... what we did have to do is offset the caliper using two washers on each bolt...

do brake calipers ever get worn down. Is there anything I can change when you decide to go from st brakes to gt brake setup? Will there be a difference between a gt celica with 100,000 miles vs a gt celica with 50,000 miles. Does the brake caliper always perform the same no matter how many miles its been through??

im sure you could get a rebuild kit from toyota if you wanted, i have not read anyones caliper messing up on here
