I have a 1997 Toyota Celica GT convertible with a 2.2L engine. This is my first toyota and I was wondering what type of engine it had. I keep seeing posts talking about ST202, ST203, etc. Can anyone help me out with this?

In America I suppose. Best stock sixth gen engine is the GEN3 ST205 3SGTE.

In terms of bang for your buck, the 5SFE is the best. It's awesome on fuel and still has a bit of power too. The 3S-GTE is a heck of a lot faster, but it also requires more general maintenance and labor costs to perform said maintenance, and requires premium fuel at the pump.
